Yes. But sony will probably stick the same out of date "coming soon" trailer on it.

I just saw the remastered disc at Wal-Mart and I checked it out to see if was the old one or the remastered version. The "secerity strip" on the top of the case said "The Fith Element-The Remstrd Edition" or something like that. I know the word remstrd was on there so it was the new version. I don't know when the original one came out but the new one also said 2007.

Apperantly, the video quality improved greatly.

Funny, SONY has never received a 5 star review by highdefdigest...

Thumbs down Peter Bracke . . .

. . . is an unabashed Sony and Blu-ray hater.

I wouldn't trust his reviews, ever! I would always add at least .5 to 1 full star to all his Blu-ray reviews.

It's amazing the number of 5-star PQ ratings he's handed out to Warner, on several that haven't deserved it.

I would wait for Chad or David Vaughn's review.

In other words, if Bracke gave this 4.5 stars, it must be really terrific.

Sure does make thier bias noticeable doesn't it! I really do not like that website, and the reviews are sometimes apppear inaccurate. Oh well, different eyes, different ears, different system, in a different room.

Folks, I think he's holding out an olive branch (or if you prefer, covering his ass for the future):

Quote:
A year later, the format's fortunes have certainly turned around. Not only has Blu-ray more than redeemed itself with scores of quality high-def releases, but over the course of the first six months of 2007, it has come from behind to beat its high-def rival in overall disc sales by two-to-one.
Quote:
Still, a four-and-a-half star video rating for a ten year-old catalogue title is pretty darn impressive, and should rate as great high-def in anyone's book. Sony is definitely to be commended -- not only for returning to the scene of their past crimes and righting old wrongs, but also for providing this remaster absolutely free to those who purchased the old version.
Let's see how Peter sees from now on.

I thought the same thing while reading it. It seemed very BD friendly, although the quick reasoning for the 4.5 instead of a 5 seemed odd, but I haven't seen it for myself yet.

Yep. I think he sees the handwriting on the wall and is covering his ass. His bias is well known but at least he does not seem to be lighting torches to his bridges like some others.

He gave a higher rating to The Patriot than other reviewers...so maybe he has turned a new leaf.
We can only hope anyway.

Kenneth Brown reviewed The Patriot, not Peter Bracke.

Default Remastered - The Fifth Element

Has anyone bought the newly re-remastered Fifth Element yet, I was wondering what people think of it and did Sony do a awsome job this time. Or is everyone still waiting for it to come in the mail from Sony, like myself, because you bought it when it first came out. Because, well, it's The Fifth Element and who can't really enjoy that movie.

Default how to distinguish...

If it doesn't say "remastered" on the case then... To distinguish them you can always look on the back at the copyright date, which should say 2007 instead of the original 2006.

I got my remastered copy in the mail yesterday and immediately watched it, but I can't say I was all that impressed. I have never seen the original blu-ray edition ... but if this edition is indeed so much better as the original one ... it must have really sucked.

Anyway, the picture is indeed sharp, but I find it somewhat grainy

I thought it looked amazing. Not grainy at all. The film has great textures and color palette. I think T5E is a demo piece once again.

I know I will be using it to show off the system! I tossed in my Superbit DVD in my upscaling Sony player and was still amazed by the BD quality. That still is a great looking DVD, but no comparison to the BD.

Yes I disagree, 5th Element looked great, one of the best blu-rays yet.
