In your opinion.

Terminator Salvation is near the top of my list for the year.

Also on my list for the year,

Star Trek, Revenge of the Fallen, State of Play, Wolverine, Fast&Furious, Taken from what's been released so far. I expect to add Sherlock Holmes and Avatar to that list.

Let me know what your opinion on it is, I found myself struggling to like it. I seem to be in the extreme minority.

Of the ones I've seen, "Star Trek" is the only one I'd say is a no-brainer blind-buy.

"The Watchmen" is brilliant in its own way, but not everybody likes it.

"Inglourious Basterds" is generally well-liked, and I find it good too, but I imagine that some may be bored with it. I'd reccomend it if you liked "Pulp Fiction."

"Coraline" was cute. Maybe too cute, depending on your sensibilities. Go rent it.

"Drag Me To Hell" was not bad, but I'm not sure if you'd want to blind-buy it.

Eventually, I plan on blind-buying "Up," "District 9," maybe "Public Enemies," and renting "The Hangover," "Zombieland," and any of the others. I'll get "Harry Potter" when they release the massive complete box set.

I know! Sometimes, the image seems so transparent in a way, with artifacts, and the sound can range from being muffled to being ear-shatteringly loud. And it's so expensive.

What I want to know is, why are we still watching movies projected on celluloid films on a projection screen? This is like 100-year-old technology now. Shouldn't we be watching movies on a gigantic wall-sized LED screen or something? Just wondering.

I do think Transformers 2 is a good film (and before The Island I had loathed every Bay film, except the Rock which was okay, so yes, me saying this comes as a suprise to myself).

Just wondering, did you like the Evil Dead films?

Best blu's released this year would have to be:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Mary and Max
Let The Right One In (UK, with lossless sound)
Angels and Demons
Quantum of Solace
Revolution Road
The Incredible Hulk (was only released this year in Oz)
Sin City
Futurama 3 and 4
Wall-E (was only released this year in Oz)

Waiting on:
Amelie (released November 5th in Oz)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (released on November 5th in Oz)
Star Trek (released October 29th in Oz, to rent)
Coraline
Inglourious Basterds (to rent)
Drag Me To Hell
Ponyo (to rent)
Bruno (to rent)
Night at the Museum 2 (to rent)
Star Wars the Clone Wars Complete first series
Publuc enemies (to rent)
G. I Joe (to rent)
Year One (to rent)
District 9 (to rent)

I have a lot of must rents, as I haven't been to the pictures much in the last year (since I upgraded to a 1080p projector , I ussually prefer to just wait and watch at my convinience in my own food with whatever food or drink I may, or may not want).

There's other films I would add, but most are smaller and it is doubtfull oz will se a blu ray release any time soon

What makes a film deserve to make money? I haven't seen the hangover and have no real desire to, but I just don't understand how a film can deserve more fiscal success.

When the movie is actually worth watching and worth my time/money to see it, in which The Hangover was not, also when you look at the numbers the movie has put-up its pretty much self explanatory.

Domestic:
$276,352,952

Foreign:
$182,100,366

It boggles the mind that movies like The Hangover can make a shit load of money and other great movies can't.

The Hangover falls under the category of a bandwagon movie.

+100

agreed. dialogue is hard to hear, and actio sequences can be over the top.

when i tell my friends "sorry, i dont want to go, the movie theater quality sucks", they look at me like i'm a prince in a castle who won't go hunting off the castle grounds

bottom line is: why pay $10 for a movie ticket when i can buy a blu-ray for $12?

i think the gigantic LED screen is a great idea. the projection screen just seems so fuzzy when i go to watch a movie now, maybe its because my eyes are spoiled with glorious 1080p. either way, i'd guess i only see 2-3 movies a year in the theater, if that.

[QUOTE=CZAR;2454807]I never seen blade runner so I cant comment on that one but Transformers 2 is the best quality blu-ray out there and its a good film! if u dont like it then of course dont buy it. The guy asked for opinions and I gave mine. is there a prob with that? Got Em!!

Well then in your opinion Transformers 2 is the best out there but how can you determine what is..in my opinion blade runner is due to the remaster and butt loads of special features...

I don't think there was or is going to be 25 movies of 09 that are worth buying. The only ones I will buy or have bought are

1. Wolverine
2. Transformers: ROTF
3. Star Trek
4. G.I. Joe
5. Fast & Furious

So u really think Blade runner looks better than Transformers 2 PQ wise?? Also Transformers has alot of features as well, but honestly i dont trip on features much so it depends on the person for what they are buying the blu-ray for. Im my opinion this is the number 1 blu-ray i was waitin for. Again that is my opinion that the guy asked for. I didnt list 25 but off top u have to have this one in your collection in my opinion! Got Em!!

I have seen it on blu although it looks good i don't think you can compare it to blade runner. Im not going out to buy a movie that wasn't that great in the first place just because the pq is considered one of the best..it will just sit on the shelf and collect dust. I do admit that the forest scene looks amazing but overall i will still go with blade runner. Now is it the best blu out there..most likely not but again in my opinion its better than TROF2. TROF2s special features doesn't even come close to blade runners. 9 hours of special features with all versions of the movie. Your first comment automatically declared it as the best blu out there but now its a matter of your opinion. I would think that for someone to be a special member and to have a opinion on this comparison i would hope that you had at least checked out the pq in blade runner.

How could anyone be dissappointed with the Hangover... it was the funniest movie of the summer, possibly in the last 5 years.
