I thought the From Dusk Till Dawn Blu-ray (Alliance) looked pretty good until I caught this movie on Encore-HD last weekend. I honestly think it blows the Alliance copy out of the water. Flesh tones were way better. Thought the Blu-ray had kind of a greenish tint. something was slightly off, although way better than the Standard DVD.

Dusk is on Encore-HD again on the 29th incase anybody wants to take a look. I think you'll find it better than the Blu-ray. I'm going to keep it on my HD-DVR now until/if a better copy is released on Blu-ray. I did that with Fight Club until they announced the release date.

Honestly, almost all the Alliance BDs can be improved upon with fresh transfers that a major studio would likely do when they release a movie. The thing is that many of the movies Alliance has released may never see a proper U.S. Blu-ray.

I ordered From Dusk Till Dawn from amazon and they tried to deliver it but I wasn't there

I hope DHL tries to redeliver it today, I want to watch it soooooooo bad. I'm so sick of my non-anamorphic dvd....

Anyone know if DHL tries to redeliver the next day usually?

Usually they do, however if you call the number on the slip they left you, you can also arrange to pick it up at their closest branch, and many are open until 7pm or later which makes picking it up easy, especially if you are gone most days. Enjoy it, it is definitely a huge step up from the DVD.

I see the FYE near me (in NY) sells these Blu-rays, so they must be the Canadian, right? Why is it FYE can sell the Canadian version but Best Buy does not?

No idea. FYE somehow got a deal with Alliance.

I hate FYE too. Grossly overpriced for the most part.

At first I was thinking it was an exclusive - like the way Best Buy has the Lionsgate titles (Secretary, Hard Candy...etc) for a month, or even the way Best Buy exclusively had the Dragon Dynasty titles (Legend of Black Scorpion...etc)

...but those titles are American releases... in America.

The Alliance titles are Canadian... So I was confused as to why they're at FYE. I guess I still am

Don't buy the Blade series! They're in 1.78:1 and should have been in their origianl 2.35 or 2.39... I forget which. They look terrible.

Ah... thanks for the heads up.

I was looking over all the Alliance titles listed here at Blu-ray.com.

I saw Equilibrium, Eternal Sunshine, Swingers... to name a few that were always on my American-release-wishlist.

It's just the first film with the messed up OAR. The others are fine.

I've got the second and it's in 1.78 as well. To be fair, I didn't bother with the third.

The second was 1.85:1 theatrically; when the US Blu-ray Disc is eventually released, Warner will modify it to 1.78:1 as is their practice.
