I think the Value of the Indexed Steelbook is safe
I have to respectfully disagree with that and I'll explain why.

Steelbooks get their "value" based on supply and demand. In the case of the original John Rambo, I very much wanted one and was almost ready to pull the trigger on paying top dollar for it. Hence, it was very valuable in the hands of it's current owner.

Now that it's being re-released, I don't care about Uncut vs Cut, I'll happily take a brand new copy for regular retail price from MM. So the one that I was thinking about buying has been lowered in value....just a little bit.

Just my 2 cents.

The true OCDs will hunt the uncut version still.
I'm not alone.

I agree and the average collector could care less its source. Look at I am Legend, the value has plummeted

Yeah fair enough. I guess to some the original will always be the holy grail and I'm not arguing that.

It's just nice that maybe now the "common folk" will be able to get one.

but average collector won't even dream of owning a John Rambo.. some of the members doesn't even buy a SB for more than 100US..
Someone thinks it's expensive buying a 60US SB... some doesn't even know the difference between German and Thailand.

But for those who are really willing to pay for the price, they will only be satisfied with the real John Rambo.. sealed or used.

But that market is really small and it is likely that those people you mention already own JR. While you can argue that the Uncut JR is more valuable you have to remember that value is determined by those who are willing to pay and not those who hold the copy. I can tell you that right now JR is worth at least half of what it was worth a couple of months ago.

you forgot the limit factor.. there are always someone who doesn't own yeat.. and I can tell you that only a few are selling right now than previously.. the longer it takes, the fewer they are.. and (the result you already know). If there's only 1 John Rambo Uncut left for sale... the ONE.. in the whole while world.. just imagine how would be.. I don't need the whole world to want it.. just need 1 person.

LOL, that's why everybody is scrambling and pulling their hair out with these MM re-releases.

It doesn't matter, because the re-release has increased the limit. People don't care about the fact that it's cut, uncut, recut, well-done, or medium-rare at this point. It's really not a great movie so unless the uncut version adds another 2 hours of footage from a good movie, it doesn't matter at this point who's holding the last copy.

Limit or not Victors that olde version will be lucky if it gets 50.00 after the re-release. I personally dont care if the arts different, region locked or not. or has some tatoo I will never use.
If you are gonna sell it you had best move fast

All that matters to me is I got Rambo!!!!!

I don't think a non-OCD collector could understand the perspective of an OCD collector and vice-versa, so let's just agree to disagree. Anyway, time will tell.

I will just be glad to have a John Rambo uncut or not. I'm planning to open it anyway (and most likely replace the Region B disc with a Region A one).

I will get the new release of John Rambo to add to my collection. I am hoping the cover art will have some distinctive difference to the original. I will do back-flips if the photo is different (but I doubt that it will be).

From someone who has been on both sides of the fence (OCD and not), I totally understand the passion and drive of the OCD collector and the thrill of the hunt, and the victory of the kill. :-)

Unfortunately, as others have pointed out, the market will bear what it will. I see a lot of people trashing eBay, but it is the true barometer by which you can see what a worldwide market is willing to pay.

The market for the RAMBO SteelBook will most likely collapse as a result of a re-release as the vast majority of SteelBook collectors (which is not a huge number yet, mind you) don't seem to care about 'collectibility', and would rather open them.

The supply is small, but the demand will shrink as more people are satisfied with the re-release. It's unfortunate for those who have paid big bucks, but them's the breaks. At least you've had them for the last few months/years while everyone else drooled. I've seen this happen in many other collectible markets.

That is why you should just stick to what you like, or take the risks. No one said that they couldn't re-release SteelBooks at any time. Just be thankful that MM and FS haven't gone to the point of releasing multiple variant SteelBooks! At that point, it will be a sad day for collectors!

You can really tell from these posts those who have RAMBO and those who don't, huh? :-)

I just hope this one has the "sparkly" kinda look to it. Pinoy cancelled the order back when it came out and i never reordered. Oh well may have to get this one. So based on the rereleases, does this make the IAL from Canada the most sought after?

All collectors have an Elenor. To each collector out there it's different. Toys, comics, cars, and Steelbooks. Alot of people want Rambo and that is their Elenor. Some serious collectors want the original like Nicolas Cage did, but for others Elenor might just be having the title Rambo.
I hope you all know what I mean
