I'm trying to figure out what the addiction is to steelbooks? What does the packaging have to do with the PQ/AQ?

I like blue ray's but I also like having features on my player beyond just blue rays. The ablity to stream netflix with hd is nice too. However I am disappointed in the selection of what is actually in hd format and availablity of new titles.
I might add a few more titles to my blue ray collection.
Star Trek XI will be one of them. Also I already have transformers but revenge of the fallen I will likely get as well.

I am addicted to Blu-Ray, but I notice on here a lot of people are really into the steel book editions of them, are steel book more available in the US as I don't seem to see many in the UK.

I'm in the waning stages of my addiction. I was addicted to standard dvds from 2003-2007. Now I have over 2000 dvds, which is enough for a movie a night for over 5 years without repeat viewings. I'm being choosy on what I upgrade nowadays.

Yeah, with the way players now are upconverting I'm finding it easier to stay out of the double dip pool... But when the prices drop like Black Friday, it's much easier to justify snatching up a movie on Blu I already own on Sdvd. As far as Steelbooks, it's pretty much just the packaging that adds to the collectability. They are much nicer (fancier) than regular blus. But you can't have just one Steelbook sitting on your shelf amongst all those regulars, so you scour for good prices on more so it's not so lonely. :-D

Its depressing! We're all shop-a-holics! This month alone, I've bought about 20 blu-rays, most of them during the Thanksgiving week. I'm constantly looking for deals on just about every retail site and sometimes in-store. Thats not it though! I'm always looking for better home theater equipment that I cannot afford. Recently and currently, I've been thinking about buying the new 250GB PS3 even though there's nothing wrong with my BDP-S560. Is there treatment for this problem? Shop-a-holics Anonymous?

I was like that when I first got into the format, then it tailored off a little bit, but has now picked up quite a bit since the price on blu-rays has dropped.

I admit i am getting to the point where i am addicted...Not to actually buying them yet tho...Just everytime i hit the net i look at amazon or this site for deals. If i purchased every blu i wanted i would have a very nice collection & a very low bank account lol. In due time...But i can see how its easy to get addicted especially if you have a nice tv & love watching movies like i do.

My rate of purchase is .7 discs per day since I started buying them. This is about the same rate of my Starbucks addiction.

I bought a player last Monday and my first blu-ray, Star Trek. Looking at my shelf just a week and a half later, I have 26 movies plus the Planet Earth documentary.

I am right at about 1 per day, just yesterday for no good reason I bought 2 from Amazon then stopped at BB and picked up 3 more (PM Amazon of course, lol.)

Yeah, I became kind of addicted. lol
But I put a limit on it recently, otherwise I'll end up on the streets or something.
Cause my income is shit...
And excuse my language I'm kinda pissy and annoyed and bored and ya...

Anyway, just decided to limit it to films/releases I like most. Period or get broke...

I think the reason why I'm so addicted is because I just started. But wow, I spend most of my free time on Amazon.com or here looking deals up. And when I receive my movies, I just can't wait to order more. Ah!

Right there with you. I don't get the steelbook thing at all. I love looking through the trading forum to see what's available for $10.00, but have to sift through all that nonsense . Really, whatever floats your boat, just not for me.

I'm not addicted to BD yet because of pricing. I did buy maybe 15 over the past month due to lower prices, but before that I went a year buying almost nothing. I'm the kind of person who doesn't find that many movies worth watching a second time. That's why I've mainly focused on catalog titles that have stood my personal test of time.
