Default 127 Hours Test Screening Reviews Start Popping Up on IMDB.

127 Hours is an upcoming film directed by Danny Boyle, written by Simon Beaufoy and produced by Christian Colson who previously teamed up to make Slumdog Millionaire. The film is based on the true story of Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who amputated his own arm to free himself after being trapped by a boulder for nearly five days. James Franco will star as Ralston.

I saw the screening for this yesterday and it was an amazing film... On the level of Trainspotting. Better than Slumdog and Sunshine. Same frenetic camerawork and editing as 28 Days Later. Classic Danny Boyle film.

James Franco was particularly at the top of his acting game. Seriously. He should most definitely be nominated for a Best Actor Oscar. The film is mostly him in a small crevice between two mountains. You could really see every single emotion running through his head. Seamlessly goes from drama to comedy to desperation and back again. Such a difficult part, but really fantastically acted. Made me cry.

The one part I didn't like were the scenes with his girlfriend, played by that Fleur Delacour girl... However, it is still early in the editing process, so I can't judge or speak poorly of the film yet.

Anyway, just wanted to get the buzz going. I have high hopes for the film at the Oscars!!!

Yes, I was at the screening as well, great film! I was thinking at certain parts that Franco has got to at least get a nomination. I love how Boyle does something completely different with each new film. There were so many uncomfortable parts other than the fact that the film is so claustrophobic, but that's what I liked about it.

Anyways, Aron Ralston himself sat directly behind me and I saw him sneak out the emergency exit as soon as the film was done. Danny Boyle sat behind him and I accosted him after the screening and told him how much of a fan I am of his work. I got a big smile, and a "Cheers, mate" out of him.

Great night overall.

I think this sounds legit. Hopefully more reviews from the test screening will start popping up as well.

And more have popped up!

I found these brief reactions/reviews on Facebook when I searched "127 Hours Danny Boyle" and "127 Hours Franco."

I'm also so impressed by how many angles and shots Boyle and Dod Mantle get. I'd give anything to know how many set-ups he gets in a day, or what that shot-list looks like.
And I found another one on Twitter Search:

Default Fox Searchlight Sets November 5 Release Date For Danny Boyle’s ‘127 Hours’

Quote:
Another keenly-anticipated fall film has been given a release date: Fox Searchlight will open Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours on November 5. That’s well in time for the film to make an impression on awards voters. I don’t even want to get into speculation about whether Boyle can repeat the success he had with Slumdog Millionaire. I just want 127 Hours to be good. The early buzz we’ve heard suggests that it could well be a solid effort.
Quote:
127 Hours is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s (James Franco) remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued. Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Clemence Poesy), family, and the two hikers (Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) he met before his accident. Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet? A visceral, thrilling story that will take an audience on a never before experienced journey and prove what we can do when we choose life.

Todd McCarthy wrote of the Coen brothers A Serious Man, “This is the kind of movie you get to make after you’ve won an Oscar.” The same can be said of Danny Boyle’s latest, 127 Hours. In telling the true story of a climber who is forced to amputate his arm after being trapped for five days, Boyle and James Franco certainly do a lot with a little. The cinematography by Boyle regular Anthony Dod Mantle and Enrique Chediak is beautiful and inventive. The score by Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R Rahman is strong »

Sounds like the kind of movie that could give Inception a run for movie of the year.

I dunno, it doesn't reveal a lot of what the film is about, but that might not work to it's advantage, as it seems more like people partying, and he falls a little bit at the end that sucks, when we all know how devastating that is.

It also doesn't get me excited that we have to see all the other movies he's made.

But I liked the trailer, it's got me interested.

Filmgoers Faint at 127 Hours in Toronto!

Source: IGN

Quote:
Danny Boyle's latest movie 127 Hours has been causing something of a stir in Toronto, with audience members apparently fainting at the film's most shocking scene.

Based on a true story, the film revolves around mountain climber Aaron Ralston, who had to amputate his own arm when it became trapped under a boulder.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, and there were apparently three faintings and one seizure during the pivotal scene.

Writing for The Wrap, John H. Foote says that at his later show, "You could clearly see people in shock, struggling to stay in their seats, working to get past the intensity of what was going on in front of them" at their screening."

In spite of such attention, the film has nevertheless been receiving rave reviews, suggesting that Slumdog Millionaire helmer Boyle could be in line for another Oscar nomination come the turn of the year.

Not just in Toronto, but in Telluride as well. People needing medical attention while watching it. I've heard that it's just from those who can't handle extreme moments in movies like the elderly or those with hearth problems who probably had no idea of what they were getting into.

I will be seeing this film on Saturday so will let you know what I think of it.
