When Dolby Digital True HD or DTS HD Master Audio is selected it will play the lossless sound but if your equipment can't play it then it will revert to normal lossy sound. At the Core of Dolby True HD there is the standard 5.1 DD that is automatically used when the HD version cannot be played back. It's all wrapped up in one neat little audio track. By selecting the True HD track you are getting the normal DD 5.1 playback unless your reciever can handle HD audio then it will play that.
The PS3 will say that it is using the True HD track but your reciever will be playing regular Dolby Digital 5.1. If your receiver is only playing back 2.0 stereo then you might want to check the PS3's audio settings. If your reciever can decode DD 5.1 then make sure that it is set to Dolby Digital in your PS3 audio settings. If your reciever cannot decode DD 5.1 then set it to downmix PCM. A reciever that can handle DD 5.1 but not HD should still play DD 5.1 when using the True HD audio track. There will not be two seperate tracks on the Blu Ray because it is all encoded into a single audio track (the True HD track). Last edited by the_sextein; 12-14-2011 at 10:17 AM. |

you don't seem to understand me here - it's not about what a TrueHD can do if it's not equiped right. The backcover on my film states there are a DD track as if there were a seperate DD track - and there is not a DD track - only a TrueHD track

Your right, I don't really get why you would want a seperate DD 5.1 track when it is already included in the True HD track.
It's like ordering a coke with ice but being upset that the ice was in the glass with the coke instead of in a seperate bowl so you could put it in the coke yourself. The HD track and the normal Dolby Digital track are seperate audio tracks but they are both encoded into a single track. If you select Dolby True HD your player is going to play the regular DD 5.1 track that is endoded into the HD track. There would be no point in including a regular DD 5.1 track option when a True HD track is already present on the disc because you would have an HD audio track and two identical regular DD 5.1 tracks on a single disc. When you select the HD track it automatically detects what your system is capable of and plays the highest possible quality your system will allow all by itself. In your case it will automatically detect and play the reqular DD 5.1 track that is on the disc and encoded into the same file as the HD track. It's like wanting to download a wallpaper for your computer. One size is high resolution and one size is low resolution. You want the low resolution option but the only option you can download is an encoded package that has both the high and the low resolution wallpapers. This file that you download automatically dectects what your desktop resolution is a selects the one you want. All you have to do is double click the file to get it to open. That is what a Dolby True HD track does. It includes both the high and the low resolution audio tracks and automatically detects and selects the one that is suitable for your system. So the back of your case is not really lying because both seperate audio tracks are inclued on the disc. Instead of having two options in the audio menu they have been simplified and both included under one audio option. The True HD track. Last edited by the_sextein; 12-15-2011 at 09:35 AM. |

Yes I understand that but I am trying to make a point here. Dolby Digital 5.1 is not going to last longer or sound better because it is seperated from the True HD encode.

Bought this on Amazon but i had a few questions to those who own it...
When you put the movie in...it goes into a few previews, then straight into the movie....Does your version bring you to a menu first??? also, i use a PS3 and when you go to select the movie, it reads as MILE_GREEN_THE.....is that how it should be coming up? also, when i was able to get to a menu, there is no Scene Selection...do your copies have this? The back of the BD, it says MADE IN MEXICO printed ... do you have this? |

I don't need a booklet with all the nice pictures and info about the movie and I much prefer the standard cases. I will wait until they release the standard BD version.
