When Harry returns, Voldemort is nearly powerless over anyone else because Harry invoked the same protection for everyone else that he received from his mother years before. Also, because he did not resist Voldemort in the woods, he maintains control over the Elder Wand(which Voldemort wields) because he still has not been beaten since he gained ownership from Draco(one of my problems with HBP is that Dumbledore does not resist Draco, where as in the book is intercepted while imbolizing Harry). As such Voldemort cannot harm anyone and when he tries to kill Harry again, the spell rebounds off the spell cast by the wands owner and returns to the source. Harry maintains complete control over the most powerful dark wizard ever and taunts with that knowledge(calling him Tom) until Voldemort spirals out of control and ultimately kills himself. IMO it is a perfectly poetic finish to the series as it mirrors the very reason that Harry was marked in the first place.

I agree, I thought it was by far the best and most intense book of the series. It needs two movies to do it justice.

I still like it though, even without it.

Haven't seen the DH preview - but I'm looking forward to the series finishing out.

What an amazing accomplishment that these movies have been filming these kids growing up into their characters.

It's crazy to see how young they are in HP 1. Don't think we'll see something like this in a very long time - if ever.

I sincerly dont believe we will ever see anything like in our lifetimes.

Harry Potter is the saga of this generation. It WILL have a lasting impact on film, very much so like Star Wars. Just the achievement of following these actors growing up is a feat.

My only problem with the preview versus the books is

[Show spoiler] Olivander is talking about the 3 hallows to Harry in the preview, but Olivander didn't know anything about the hallows at all, he just knew of the Death Stick wand

I don't know, I haven't read the books but the upcoming movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians looks good. I have read there are five books and it might just top HP.

Because the lowest grossing Harry Potter film made just under $800million.

I doubt that movie(s) will earn anywhere near that.


Unless you meant they may be better movies (not make more money), in that case, I have no opinion as I don't watch Harry Potter.

I believe that the first 6 Harry Potter movies have brought in about 5.4 billion dollars worldwide. Not to mention there are 2 more movies to go. You think they can top that? It is top grossing film franchise in history. Thats why.

Well, yeah, I wasn't thinking $ wise but story certanly looks better looking at the trailers. Plus, if they make sequels Percy Jackson will be just as popular as HP. Chris Columbus is also the producer of the film so I think it might do well.

Anyway, sorry for being off topic. I have high hopes for Deathly Hallows Part 2 but Part 1....they said it will end in a cliffhanger so not sure how many people will be happy with that.

Harry Potter is an excellent series an going by the trailers, Percy Jackson looks awful. And there is NO gaurentee it will do well. We'll have to see how it does though.

I have to say I enjoyed the way she ended Deathly Hallows. Everything was perfectly foreshadowed so when it happened u could look back and it all made sense.

Well, "#2" got owned by Harry in Order of the Phoenix. If Harry had malice and cruelty in him, #2 would have been dead long before the events of Deathly Hallows. Being a cackling psycopath has some disadvantages.

Actually I think the only reason she wasn't murdered in Order of the Phoenix is Voldemort and Dumbledore came along. Harry was in a fit of rage and had lost almost all capacity for reason, hence hitting her in the back with the Crucio curse.
