I agree that ST and the effects in it still stand up to today's standards, but it only exists because of the work on films like Jurassic Park. It also doesn't hurt that a lot of the same people and companies worked on both. The article is on game-changers, not who did it best.

I agree with all of them from 77 on, except for Close Encounters. That one seems out of place especially with Star Wars being the same year.

The list is pretty good imo. I think, in terms of real game changers, that they only left out two films:

Tron - ryan is right. Almost every movie with cg effects today can trace its roots back to this film.

Jason and the Argonauts - Actually I'm not sure if this was the first one, but even in today's digital world, motion capture is a pretty common type of effect and you can trace it back to those fighting skeletons.
