Except it is a concern because special features are often in standard-def. Also there is sometimes PAL content before the movie/menu starts, which can cause problems as well.

Welp it looks like Miramax is shutting down, so it may be a long time yet before we see Pulp Fiction on Blu.

Disney still own the rights to their catalogue releases so dont say never. It may just take a little longer than it may have.

Which is pretty ridiculous considering that Pulp Fiction is one of the best films ever made.

Supposedly there are other media companies interested in purchasing the rights to the Miramax name and library, which is probably the main cause for delay in any BD releases.

Hmm, wasnt aware of that. Just knew that Disney still owned a majority of their library, meaning that this would get a BD Release eventually.

I heard the Weinsteins wanted to buy the name back, but I'm not sure if they want the film library. They have a bad track record when it comes to home video releases so I hope they don't get their paws on Pulp Fiction again.

Pulp Fiction is 1080i/50hz so its an interlaced PAL formatted transfer. It will not playback on US & Canadian PS3s and nearly all US & Canadian Blu-ray players even though the disc is region free. There are a few US/Canadian BD players that could playback the 50hz content but these are rare.

The NTSC standard for an interlaced transfer is 1080/60hz and these playback on all Blu-ray players regardless of the country.

Reports suggest that they don't have enough money to do so. And Disney has stated they're not selling the rights to the name without the library, it's a bundle deal or nothing.

Of course Pulp Fiction will get a release. It's just that Miramax literally closed their offices this week, and Disney probably needs time to figure out what they're gonna do with everything.

Which equals a delay and consequently also equals lameness.

Yeah, I heard they were willing to sell everything related to Miramax for $1.5 billion. The Weinsteins are struggling with the Weinstein Company, so I doubt they have $1.5 billion sitting around.

If that's the case then you shouldn't buy it, regardless of the fact if you're player/television can handle it or not.

Yeah, it's one thing to go out of business, but delaying a Blu-ray? That's not cool.

Sorry to quibble but a transfer from a high-definition master, even if it's 50Hz interlaced, is still nothing to do with PAL. PAL is a standard definition format.

I picked up a DVD used. I'll wait for a proper BD transfer.

Okay. It is not "PAL format" but 50hz is still not refresh rate accepted by nearly all US and Canadian televisions and/or players. Thanks for the quibble.

I agree, Disney would make sure that their release would be perfect.

well forget seeing a Pulp Fiction UD bd release anytime soon.
LA Times article confirms that Disney is selling off all of the Miramax film rights so NO US release from Disney will ever occur it looks like.
Looks like all Disney wants to release on bd is their animated stuff and their new stuff.
just like I suspected there will be NO more Miramax bds.
For people that want PF, there are good import versions available.

Sucks there's no US release, but it makes me glad i bought the Danish import a few months ago

Danish/Polish import is the way to go for Pulp Fiction !!! Also i was wondering if these two import are the exact same version, except for their artwork.... ? ??

PS: By the way, it would be cool if someone could add the PF Danish version on the BD list on this site, so i can add it to my collection list
