The Skynet does have some additional DNR applied to it compared to the original release, but it is superior to the original disc and is a pretty decent looking image considering the original transfer was done on older equipment. The original disc has too much video noise (not actual film grain). The colors and contrast are slightly better on the Skynet disc too. In addition, the audio is better. The Skynet is a decent holdover until a restoration is done one day.

Should I pick the Skynet version up if I have the Extreme DVD or is there yet another blu-ray release of this coming, so rumored?

The skynet version has alot of stuff on it that the extreme dvd does not.
Rumor is Cameron will have T2 reworked again in a future date.
My best guess since he is into 3D now with avatar we might see that on a new T2.

I now own the ultimate edition dvd, extreme dvd, and skynet blu.
Heck I even have a vhs version of t2.

I just watched T3 (DVD) the other day , first time in a long time, mainly to refresh myself on the story line. It is OK but its certainly not as good as 1 or 2, and I liked T4 better. Its either the story or some of the acting in T3 that turns me off a little, Nick Stahl's acting is not too good from my point of view.

I would say rent it first and if you like it buy it on Blu, if not at least you have seen them all, I haven't bought it on Blu because to me its just OK.

Order the region free UK version for around $16 shipped and forget about the 2 inferior U.S. releases.

I have the regular edition of T2 but have wonder if the UK version is worth upgrading to. I also like the cover art on the UK version better.

The picture/sound quality is better than either U.S. release. The only downside is that there's no extras.

If you want it all, go with the Japanese "Premium Edition". It will cost you though.

For the price, you can get T2 SE & T3 for about $25, both thru Amazon!

Nah, I am not big on extra's.. I never watch them. Do you happen to know if T1 and T3 are also region free in the UK and if the P/A Q's are better?

T1 has not been released in the UK yet. T3 has been released by Sony with all the extras from the 2-Disc DVD, An AVC Transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Track!!

So the Skynet is DNR'd out the wazoo. Dammit. I hate that.

Why is it so difficult for them to get these Terminator transfers down on Blu-ray? I may just stick with my Extreme and Ultimate edition DVD's until they finally get it right.

Thanks for the info. So, it sounds like T2 and T3 UK versions are region free and are slightly better than the U.S versions. I already have T4 and am happy with the transfer.

Yes the T2 Directors Cut Release and the T3 Release are both Region Free and are better than the US Releases.

Hope that helped

I really liked 3. Not as good as 1 or 2, but a heck of a lot better than Salvation, IMO.
