OMG....I watched Transformers 2 last night and this sub just punched hard. For a second I thought the vibration was going to brake the windows..LOL! I had to turn it down, but was still amazed. Much better than the HTiB sub.

It's a good idea to check it out though. You'd be surprised. I stuffed a friend's computer subwoofer with Poly-fill, who had said the same thing you said, and then made a makeshift riser out of a small Amazon box and finally stuffed the box with scrap papers. The difference was night and day. Before, the subwoofer was chuffing away, which was practically all you heard. After, the bass had more impact, sounded cleaner, and was overall more musical, with less of the vibrations and sounds being lost to the desk, although the vibration was still there, just not because the subwoofer was sitting on the desk. It's just a thought. Building a small riser for your subwoofer may be the equivalent of purchasing an upgraded subwoofer, getting the best out of what you currently have.

Nah...I like it how it is.
I don't want to seem rude, but I just get tired of people who try and tell me whats better for me and my set up. I like it the way I like it. I don't care what any audiophile techno-geek says. Why get a sub if you muffle it so much and take the punch out of it?

I don't think that's what anyone is trying to do. Of course nothing is ideal but the idea of showing you those threads is so if you're interested in learning about the subject, or are just somewhat curious, you can do your own investigating. Home theater is a learning process, not just a thought. Improving the subwoofer qualities does not include muffling the sound or taking the punch out of the subwoofer, rather removing the muffled sound from your subwoofer and adding to its punch. We're here to help and offer our thoughts and opinions. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We're not here to spend all of your money...yet.

Thats the thing...Ever since I have been on Blu-ray.com everyone knows better and tells me its "supposed" to be this way (psst, Beta-Man). I'm no idiot; and I did my homework when I put my set-up together, but I also put my own touches to it, and like it the way it is. If I need help; I will ask for it.

Yes, that is what the "audiophile techno-geeks" want to do. "Muffle it so much and take the punch out of it."

What does it hurt listening to different opinions? And if you aren't looking for advise, then what is the point in posting? Just enjoy what you have without looking for compliments.

These forums are full of relatively good people willing to share advise on how to get the best out of your setup.

All I know is nobody in this thread has told you anything should be a certain way or that you are wrong. Nobody is knocking your setup either. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your setup. A fellow member simply linked you to a thread in this subwoofer sub-forum and said what was there in case you were interested. You did ask for thoughts in your first post, if I'm not mistaking, so I don't see anything wrong in pointing you in the direction of something completely relevant. The thread may also help you learn about certain features of your subwoofer or give you a better idea on how things work. If you don't want to read about subwoofers, that is completely fine too. It is a merely a friendly suggestion and offering, not an insult.

Thats the next thing....I never did ask for advice. I hate getting advice from people who think they know better when I never ask for it.

If not for advice, then what was the point in posting other than gloating?

I'm sorry, but forums aren't only for arguing and putting people down. Nobody has said they know better than you and nobody is trying to insult you, your setup, or your subwoofer. There is no reason to be upset about this.

That's fine! I'm genuinely glad for you. You don't need to be so defensive about this. It's the internet. Nobody here is blatantly bashing you in your own thread. Relax.

I just get tired of the unwanted "You could do this" or "You need to do that" everytime I post a pic of something I add to my set-up.

There is no reason to become rude. Some of us geeky people like me went to college and have a Master's Degree in Engineering and also a Ph.D. In addition, I have over 40 years of experience in audio and can help you with your setup free of charge.

Nobody here is trying to insult you and downgrade your equipment, but it is quite obvious that some of us do in fact know more about subwoofers than you do. For example, in post #7, you did say that you do not know what a High Cut option on the back of the subwoofer does. It doesn't hurt to read the manual or ask. You have every right not to listen to us and follow the advice that we give you, but you do not have the right to call it CRAP. For your information, the crap that you refered to is based on science and Physics of waves.

OMG...welcome to the all american firing squad. I-Dak keyboard must be smoking by now. I-Dak take a deep breath and read and discard. That means to read the post if you don't like then move on. If it sounds appealing then respond to it. In with the good and out with the bad. Then if that doesn't help take a shot of Ol' Jack Daniels and call us in the morning.

By the way you'll tend to watch all you blu's over to test it out more and more. Enjoy.

They don't "think" they know better than you, they just do. Calm down. Take their advice or don't. That's up to you. But don't act like a rude child when someone takes a few moments out of their day to give you quality free advice to improve your system.

The best "advice" for that is to just take certain opinions and subjects and leave it alone. No need to get worked up or upset about something like that. If you don't like something, scroll past it.

Big Daddy,

One of the reasons I like blu-ray.com is for this very reason - to learn from people like you and squeak every inch out of my setup.

I've read your subwoofer thread before - but somehow I missed (or forgot) about adding the box under the subwoofer. I'll read up on that again as it seems like such a simple thing to do.

Thanks for your input on this forum.

I won't get into the great debate that is going on other than to say that I got the same sub yesterday and for what I paid it sounds fantastic. It is a huge improvement over the HTIB sub that I was using and compliments my new Klipsch Quintet speakers well. I would like to get it off the floor to see if that changes the sound any but that will be the extent of it. New spaeakers and a new sub, I guess it is time for a new receiver but that is for another thread.
