Jerry never has to work again. If he does work, it's just for fun or a hobby. He's not going to do a 5 day a week show. Though I would love to see it.

Damm I was hoping they'd move Leno to hiatus during the Olympics...

I have never witnessed one of these "moments of brilliance" from Fallon, though I have only seen a handful of episodes (still, if it takes that long for just one nice moment, that still doesn't make his shtick any better). I even watched the Mark-Paul Gosselaar interview, and it wasn't funny at all because Fallon couldn't hold his pose. That's pathetic.

I will admit, though, that the quality of Conan's shows has been on a decline since his Late Night days, though. I think the earlier time slot just doesn't suit him that well.

What I also find sad, since I've attended both Conan's The Tonight Show and the Jay Leno Show live before, is that Leno is actually really funny—when he's not on the show and just warming up the audience. His own jokes are good, and he is very witty (which would be the case for any good comedian, I guess). It's just that once the show starts rolling, he has to go to his "safe," canned routine, which is not funny at all to me.

Leno isn't funny. Conan is funny. Figure it out.

The best thing Leno does is read jokes sent in by his audience. The skits on his show that feature people that actually are funny are good. Everything else is a waste of airtime. Conan is spontaneous and naturally hilarious.

IF... Conan gets the 10:00 slot, I'd be happy.
There's no way Conan would move to the 10:00 slot, his ratings would be worse than Leno. The new owners at Comcast are going to bring real shows back to that slot. I don't know what they could do with Conan. Do they put him at his old time slot, move Fallon back, and dump Carson Daly? It's also possible this would breach Conan's contract and he'd get a huge buyout and be a free agent.

If NBC moves the show, it would mean that they have to come up with 5 hours of new programming every week - This could be hard to do on short notice, Unfortunately, instead of bringing back good, but cancelled programming, they would probably just come up with 5 hours of reality programming.

Whoever gets poked in the end (pun intended) will get a very hefty paycheck and not need to work for a long time. If Conan gets the boot it would be a drag, Fallon needs to go. I see ABC waiting for the outcome since they didn't get Leno when they wanted to.

I don't want Leno, Conan or Fallon to go anywhere, but if anything, Leno needs to go.

NBC needs to stop watering down Conan, seriously where's Masturbating Bear?

Yeah, I was skeptical when I heard he was going to be moving to the earlier slot - Conan belongs in the late night where only other wierdos are watching.

That's exactly why Conan doesn't work as well in the earlier spot. Many of his jokes are too mature for the earlier spot, and a lot of his funniest bits are too weird, like the Preperation H guy.

I think he can do prime time - problem is, he's probably got management breathing down his neck. Remember when he wrote for the Simpson's? Those were the best of the TV series back in the day. Excellent writing, witty and funny.

Maybe Conan will go to TBS and take over Lopez's spot.

That's the thing, though. He is funny. The problem is he doesn't get to use most of his normal material on the show. When I saw him live, he was very funny. Then he finished his routine, stepped out, and came back on when the TV show started. At that time, he used an entirely different set of jokes, which sounded like they were obviously written by other people.

Hell, if you watch interviews of him, he knows his monologue sucks (that was also one of his jokes to us during his warm up set). He just has to use it because it has wide appeal.

yes! one of nbc's biggest late night screwups ever was forcing jay into early retirement with that stupid deal they did a few years ago with conan.

for you jay haters. jay leno is one of the hardest working people in show business, he produces more new shows during the year than anyone else, works tremendously long hours, yea so sometimes some of his material works and its funny, sometimes not, but he is always willing to laugh at himself when a joke doesnt work out. he gives his staff a lot of input into the show, and sometimes thats what we are seeing. he is also great at helping people get their careers started.

the things i like about jay is not that he is the best comedian out there, its that hes a nice guy, he's friendly, laid back, treats his guests with respect and fun whether its a grandmother who bakes cookies, the number one celeb, an up and coming child star or new comedian. the kind of person you would invite to dinner. his monologues keep up with current events, poking fun at the day's news. he has been loyal to his staff, and the banter between his band leader kevin and himself is great. every joke might not be funny, every skit might not be funny, but it is a nice way to unwind the day.

conan is decent, but i dont really think he was the right fit for the tonight show. he tried to tone down and change his routine for the tonight show, what ended up happening is a lot of conan fans didn't like that, a lot of the jay fans didnt like the new style of the tonight show, even the toned down version of conan, so they all found better things to do/watch. everyone hates fallon, i really havent watched him enough to voice an opinion, but it does seem like he doesnt really fit the late night talk show model in any capacity.

so i say boot fallon, put him in some minor role on a comedy series where he belongs, put conan back in his old slot, maybe he'd prefer to live in new york anyways. he should get a nice check from nbc either way, so he shouldnt be shedding too many tears.
