BTW, 3:10 To Yuma is a remake, lol. So is Thomas Crown Affair, as well as many newer movies, people have no clue they are remakes.

Other great remakes, The Thing, The Manchurian Candidate, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Bourne movies were originally a mini series made in 1988.

This forum is specifically for Blu-Rays though. There's a separate forum for general movie discussion.

Well, this is a discussion of Blu-ray movies that suck and need an update. Buyer beware.

With modern special effects, it might not hurt to give some of the B movies from the 50's and 60's modern treatment, like "Tarantula", "Them", "King Kong vs. Godzilla", etc. However, some of the remakes haven't been necessarily better - "Pink Panther" comes immediately to mind. Even with modern effects and Spielberg at the helm, I thought "War of the Worlds" was inferior to the 1953 original; aren't you supposed to care about the main characters?

I am going to bottle your minds so good, you'll all want to get your hairs did again:

Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) is a remake of Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) which itself was a remake of Rio Bravo (1959).

The best example though is 1961's Yojimbo:

Remade in 1964 as the spaghetti Western classic "A Fistful of Dollars"

Remade again in 1966 as Django.

Yet again 1976 as Kozure satsujin ken.

Then again in 1984 as The Warrior and the Sorceress.

Again in 1996 as Last Man Standing and three years later in 1999 as Inferno.

Reborn again as the television show Kaze no yojinbo.

The plot for the 2006 film Lucky Number Sleven comes from Yojimbo.

And finally Takashi Miike would remake Yoimbo as his 2007 film Sukiyaki Western Django.

There is a difference between wanting a new Blu-ray Disc release of a movie and wanting a different movie entirely.

The discussion on the latter which we sre doing here belongs in Movies and TV Discussion

If you just want a new Blu-ray Disc with better special features then yes, that belonges in this forum.

OK, in that case, I want Master and Commander, all blinged out. That movie was awesome and the Blu-Ray had JACK for extras.

I actually like the idea of a Wizard of Oz remake, I know it's sacred ground and the original is one of the true greats of all time. But I think the story could be told in a darker and less musical way that would stand on it's own and not soil the memory of the 1939 classic. Could even make it a series of films a la Harry Potter.

I think it might be time to retire the idea of remaking Hitchcock films though, they try and try and it never really works out.

The Truth About Charlie - bad.

A Perfect Murder - not good.

The Gus Van Sant Psycho remake - so bad.

Mr.& Mrs. Smith - not bad, but it was completely retooled as a summer action/s**t blows up type of flick, so not really a remake at all.

We'll see how The Birds turns out, it's got Naomi Watts so at least that's something worth looking at.

The Burning. Unknown actors only, without anyone that has ever been on CW/MTV/Disney. Also, a cameo by Jason Alexander.

I'd to see War Of The Worlds movie that as accurate as possible to the book.

I'd also like to see the PT remake.

I'd like to see something inspired from the D+D cartoon. I really like fantasy kids movies like Goonies.
