I am not interested either, once in a great while at the theatre cool. In my home not so much... they should be concentrating on regular HDTV penetration and getting blu-ray a stronger base. This just seems like one more thing with confusing specs to make consumers wait even longer to take the plunge... If ever, many people think HDTV itself is a gimmick, this will only solidify that and many other misconceptions.

I don't think it will fly, either. There was a reason why it never worked back in the "olden" days when the studios tried implementing it. It was a gimmick. And it didn't work. It's still a gimmick, as far as I'm concerned, and just another way for electronic companies to get consumers all lathered up about the "new" extra and have them lemming-like, dump what they got and give the companies even more of their hard-earned pennies for a gimmick that just does nothing to add to the movie experience. I like the suspension of reality when I'm watching a movie, I don't want to be part of it.

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie in 3D to see what it is all about but overall I am happy with out and don't really have a desire to go down that road.

3-D is cool, especially in theaters right now but I just don't see the jump to TV being the same. I am sure it'll be cool but I will stick to my TV for a while until they actually make one format the norm, because as far as I am concerned right now they dont' even show cable at 1080p yet...

3D is a good reason to make people wanting to go to theaters and I like it that way.
As for personal use, at home, I think I would still prefer a good plasma "old fashion way"

I saw Avatar in 3-D and enjoyed it. I wouldn't have attempted to see it without the 3-D as I felt it was going to be a big part of that movie. I wasn't disappointed.

However, the glasses were not comfortable. I understand that they a generic size and won't fit nicely for everyone.

I'm not too excited about TV in 3-D though. I'm neither for nor against it.

Just don't think it's something that will be necessary for 95% of the TV shows.

Jerry Springer in 3-D? Or how about Martha Stewart? I'm being funny but hoping to make a point too...

I certainly hope we don't start getting "3D only" releases in the future.

Film to me as I knew it is slowly starting to fade away...

Does anyone else share my thoughts about 3D?
I'm with ya here. I don't want a 3DTV. Maybe many years from now when they're cheaper and have no bugs, but I'm not buying one any time soon, and I'm not buying any 3D blus.

3D isn't even close to perfect yet, but in 4 years or so after the bugs have been worked out, it will completely take over. Eventually the same way color TV took over black and white.

I hope they figure it out by then. If this technical backwater version of 3D get standardized, it may take longer...so many people will buy into this mess it will hard to be able to drag them out of it.

I think that the more appropriate question is for me to ask...

Am I the only one WHO WANTS a 3D TV???

So far, 9 out of 10 people that I talk to about this new technology coming out wants nothing to do with it. I'm stoked for it to finally be implemented properly within the home theatre environment... especially for gaming.

Hey, everybody wants one. It's just that very few people think this is what they want.

I want a Ferrari, and I can't glue a My Little Pony decal to the hood of a Yugo and fool anybody, no matter how hard I rev the engine and yell at good looking women, "hey baby, come for a ride in my Hot Sports Car!"

Talking them into wearing huge, weird glasses before they look wouldn't help, either.

I'd really like 3D. Wake me up when somebody gets it right.

I share your thoughts.

I consider myself a Cinephile; I appreciate the artful aspects of film - the suspense, the dialogue, the acting, cinematography and directing.

The films of today just can't fit the bill to compare to movies of yesteryear. Now, the CGI graphics are the stars of the show. You don't get that many movies anymore with intense plots - just movies with a lot of explosions and "shaky" and "jerky" camera movements to make the movie seem more intense (trying to make up for a thin plot and weak acting).

3-D is a technological marvel - if it is executed right. I don't want the movies to get more and more technical and less and less inspiring, but I am afraid that you may be right.

I'm in the minority of people that wants 3-D at home. Ever since I first saw Monsters Vs. Aliens, I knew that 3-D was gonna make a HUGE comeback. I'm so glad that it's not only taking off, but ACCELERATING. With all the great 3-D movies that have already come out, along with what's to come, I'm really excited about it. Not to mention, the PQ is generally astounding with newer 3-D movies. UP and MvA both looked incredible on the big screen.

That being said, I could see myself getting a 3D HDTV sometime in the next 1 to 3 years. I'll wait for prices to go down. Plus, I'm keeping an eye on those OLED's that are coming out. I want my 3D HDTV pencil thin.
