Just make sure you get on the right ship, you don't want your first experience on a cruise to be like something the movie "Boat Trip"

Unlimited food is usually included on cruises. On both Carnival cruises I went on there was a free 24 hour pizza place, breakfast buffet, midnight desert buffet, lunch, and multi-course dinner. The dinner did have an option to upgrade if you wanted things like lobster and prime rib, but the free dinner was amazing as well. They were at least 4 courses and pretty extravagant. It's still the only time I've had frog legs, which taste like chicken. Not sure if you could buy an unlimited drink package since I was only 13/14.

Ya mine had a Captain's Party..but I was too young to drink @ the time.. so I'm not sure if they had open bar.

Carnival's food is all included and fountain drinks just not alcohol, of course. Mine had like a hamburger pit too where you could get burgers and fries. So many options.

Yeah, as I recall they had a pretty big gym with virtually every type of equipment. It was much bigger than any hotel gym I've ever seen. Both ships I went on also had tracks on the top decks.

Hey Mike-all of the previous posts are right on the money about cruises! You'll have the time of your life! Been on two so far and planning on another in November for our 10 year anniversary!

2 questions-are you staying a state room or in a balcony room? There is a WORLD of difference here. Definitely upgrade to the balcony.

The other is do you get sea sick at all? I never did until my first cruise. It happened at dinner-I swear the dinner table was moving up and down and back and forth! I had to excuse myself from dinner and I tell you THAT was the longest walk back to our state room. It didn't help that there were 10" waves really rocking the ship. Don't worry-I took some of the seasick pills from the front desk and they worked like a charm. After the first day I found my "sea-legs" and was fine from there on out-didn't need anything for out second cruise.

On the left coast, your options are somewhat limited; but, if you enjoy the Carnival Cruise, then you really need to take a Disney cruise (even if you don't have kids).

The dining options are much greater, the dining room seating is not as cramped, the staterooms are bigger, and the entertainment is excellent. There are adult only pools and bars. Disney also includes free soft drinks all the time, on Carnival you have to buy a drink card and then have to wait in line at the bars to get a soft drink. If you go on the Bahamas Cruise, you will find that Castaway Cay really is what it is advertised to be and beats any other beach excursion.

The downside is that Disney cruises are always popular and there are very few sales (even in the current economic environment).

Having cruised on Carnival, Disney, and the now-defunct Big Red Boat, I can tell you that Disney is a much more enjoyable cruise for adult travellers (Disney has no casinos, though, if that is important to you). If you have kids, there is no comparison between Disney and Carnival.

I've had frog legs twice now. Once in the deep south at an all you can eat truck stop (best frog legs ever!) and once at an all you can eat Chinese/Mongolian grill. They do taste like chicken, but better I think.

They must have changed the system. When I went on the Carnival cruise, you just grabbed a glass and walked up to the drink machines. Now you have to buy a drink card? How much does that go for?

I didn't get sick until the 3rd day but it was really rough seas. It wasn't a fun day. I kept felling to boat go up and down lol up and down...crashing onto the high seas.

Same with us...just grab a glass and you can get all the soda you can get the only thing you had to pay for were alcoholic drinks...which were usually 8 bucks at the time.

Well it's being planned by my uncle so I'll see if I can get more details from him. Not sure what kind of room accommodations we will get yet.

Once I have more info I'll update the post. If there is wi-fi then I'll also update the post with pictures when I go!
