lol if I could complain about anything it would be the flickering in poorly lit areas, it didnt happen throughout the whole movie, but mainly in the city scene and the end scene.

Hey Everyone.

Just got my copy of 300. It's really crystal clear. I thought it was supposed to be grainy??

Do you think something is wrong?!?!?

You need to return it and ask for the SG version. (Super Grain)

The disc is still the same! I am not talking about grain either. It still has the strobe effect through the whole movie. I don't have any idea what is wrong. Newest updates, HDMI, all other BD's working fine, games work great too. Frustrating.

Superk, are you sure that it's not just the way the scenes are shot/edited? Specially the battle scenes? There's a lot of motion manipulation on those, accelerating time, suddenly stopping it, slowing it , etc, as the blades slash through the flesh of the enemies of Sparta! WE WILL SFX TO HELL TONIGHT!

Sorry I just watched it again

Let me guess... you've got a 1080i (720p or 768p) TV, and not 1080p?

Probably a plasma, too?

In my experience, 1080p LCDs show a lot more grain.

I am sure that it isnt the way it was shot. I have seen it on DVD, and it looks good, it all flows nicely but my BD is like a strobe light is used during the whole film, even the regular walking and talking scenes.

Just for everyone's info, all my blu-rays started doing this so I called Sony and I am to ship my PS3 to them for repair. Nothing was wrong with the BD's.

Don't send your PS3 back to Sony. I had the same problem as you do. Unfortunately, it is your TV. I had a Sharp Aquos 42" 1080p. The strobelight problem was awful. I thought it could be my ps3, but since I was within the return period on my TV I decided to switch out TVs before PS3s. Same problem with the new TV. Took it back. Asked around. Had a my PS3 hooked up to a Samsung LN-T4665F, no strobelight problem. I bought the 40" instead, still no problem, however every once in a while you will still see a touch of strobelighting it is only noticible if you know what scenes to look for it in and where to look on the screen. Also, you might not have noticed it on previous BDs because it wasn't AS apparent in other movies as in 300, then once you see it in 300 you begin seeing it in other movies. The first time I noticed it was Apocolypto which was not my first BD, when I went back and watched CR, Black Hawk Down, Pirates, I noticed the strobelighting. Im 99% sure this comes from how well your TV can process motion. This theory comes from the same effect happening in games when things such as grass or flowers would sway in the wind. Since games are 60 fps and movies are 24 fps and i got the strobelight effect in each it has nothing to do with framerate. PM me if you have any questions.
