The reason I stopped playing Madden and these other football games is because of that crap. Everytime you put it on the highest difficulty setting, no matter what play I choose it either gets broken up or intercepted.

EVERY SINGLE TIME.

That's just bullsh*t.

SNK fighting game bosses cheat. They read the player's input and can instantly "input" the correct counter at just the right frame to kill you.

A lot of old school fighting games would do crazy things, like allowing charge characters to use charge moves without charging and stuff, too.

Madden on ALL MADDEN is freakin ridiculous. It's not even funny how much the game cheats.

Blanka walking towards me doing his blanca roll (requires him to hold away 3 seconds), same with Guile's Sonic Boom.

EA Sorts games.. harder difficulty never means better A.I., just means increased level of BS

NFS:Underground used to drive me up a wall. If you were crushing the computer it would institute what I like to call "1st place physics".....you could cut the corners the same identical way every time but when 1stPP came into play everything changed in the car.

If you are familiar with the game there was a night race in the city where you could use the steps on the left near the start for a short cut. You could make that shortcut every time unless you were dominating the computer, then you would ALWAYS get caught on an edge I'm not proud but I actually broke a few controllers playing that stupid game.

My earliest (and most amusing) recollection of a game that outright cheated - and made no bones about it, was Harvard Lampoon's Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1 for the PC.

It was like playing chess with a psychopath. If you took your eyes off the screen, the "Chess Maniac" would literally reach down onto the board and try to sneak one of your pieces out of play, and if you didn't hit the space bar in time (which made you whip out a ruler and thwack his hand to interrupt him), you could literally lose the piece.

The vehicles on Nintendo's R.C. Pro-Am would always cheat. On numerous occasions, one of the vehicles would be going so fast that it would lap you nearly twice on a four lap race; ridiculous....

LOL, kinda like when Ryu and Ken start freaking out with their "Ohh You Can!"; they would do it like five times in a row and never miss knocking my player down.

Mortal Kombat II -

The PS3 port intentionally corners you, even at the lowest difficulty setting. If you own it, you can see it for yourself. Just stand perfectly still and you'll notice the computer AI won't stop pummeling you.

Yeah I remember that. You racing along and all of a sudden you hear that tune and see one of the trucks starting to accelerate to Warp 5. I always shot him wit a missile if I could. That was str8 B/S....lol

Any of the EA Sports NHL games cheat often when you are leading them on a higher difficulty setting. You'll be up 4-1 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd period and they miraculously come back to win with less than 20 seconds left on the clock.

Mario Kart 64 when raceing. I'd blast the computer with a shell, and then they would be right back speeding past me in seconds.

That reminds me of Double Dribble and Blades of Steel. The CPU always stole the ball/puck from you and pass with souch accuracy you can't get it back and they score on you. Good ol' Konami....lol

You called it buddy. There would almost always be someone behind you - even though you made the leaders wipe out.

Mario Kart - and pretty much any fighting game - where they always counter your moves and do crazy combos on you.

I second this, but take it to a much larger gaming genre as a whole: RTS's. This example above is one instance, but anyone else who has played the genre before can probably attest to another way the computer cheats: when you begin the game, normally you have to build some sort of resources center(I will use C&C as an example). Usually you have to build a powerplant before you build anything else. And once you do, you can start building a units building, whether it be for people or for vehicles like tanks and whatnot. But, while it seems to take a while to build things like the buildings and then the people, the computer has already amassed an army and is sending it down your throat! So, while you try to create and maintain a base, you are constantly fighting off wave after wave of the computer's endless horde of soldiers. That gets frustrating and annoying.
Well, that's because most missions have you taking a fortified base so it would only make sense that they (the computer) already have the structures and higher level units to attack you. If you wanted the single player game to be like the multiplayer skirmish mode (where everybody starts off the same) then there would be no place to build a story.

What doesn't make sense is why we always have to build a freakin base from scratch to attack. Why can't we just bring up all the old units from the old base in the previous mission?

This is actually why I moved away from the C&C type genre in RTS gaming and more towards the Total War series. In that series you build your army from your home territory, march over to where the enemy is and initiate a battle. Once the battle begins in real time, you run what you "brung". There's no magic hut on the field where a soldier can pop out. If you lose a unit it's gone for the battle.

As for the topic of this thread:
Rainbow Six Vegas 2: Once spotted and engaged the enemy always knew where I was even if I run out of the room and creep up stairs to a different level!

Of course, we also cheat... In most games today we have regenerating health while the enemy does not.

Even though there are cheats in every video game including the classics, there's always a certain strategy to get around it. Have any of you figured it out?

Countless hours of playing, screaming at the tv, and doing everything not to throw the controller.

Lol! Well it doesn't take me that long to figure out how to beat an opponent regardless of how many times they cheat, its just a computer.
