BHD is the one of the best looking Blu-rays I've got. It doesn't need to be redone.

i think the PQ was outstanding on this title. no complaints here and I'd not buy a remaster of it.

Black Hawk Down looks great. And before they start remastering movies that have already been released and look this good, they should release the movies that have been promised for ages, like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Master & Commander, etc. The endless delays from many Blu-Ray studios (Sony and Fox particularly) are very frustrating.

This movie looks amazing! Why do so many people hate film grain?! I just don't get it. To me, this, and films like it, like Man on Fire look amazing, every little bit of grain is sharp and adds very much to the detail of the picture... Maybe people are sitting so close their eyes are only seeing the grain and can't see the actual picture?

people have this weird idea that movies need to look like pixar films, i.e. "plastic". a main purpose of HD media is to as accurately as possible recreate the intent of the director. if that means grain, muted or exaggerated color pallet, or crystal clear, so be it.

that's not to say that prints don't need to be cleaned up. dirt, scratches, and other blemishes should be fixed as much/well as possible.

Exactly... unless the dirt and stuff is intentional. Then maybe it shouldn't be removed

I'm glad the extended version isn't on Blu-ray, it's some bastardized creation of Sony's. The Theatrical version is the director's prefered version. Oh, and the BD looks great, far better than the Superbit I got rid of.

Holy balls, thread resurrection week on blu-ray.com. BTW, I got my display recalibrated after the change in transports and it fixed the contrast issues that were causing my dislike. Some outdoor scenes had looked too washed out.

Now where's that dead horse emoticon.
