I voted for

Jurassic Park
The Matrix
Back to the Future
Terminator 2
The Abyss (Director's Cut, I've never seen the original cut)
The Day the Earth Stood Still ('51)
and Independence Day

I would swap Star Trek for Independence Day but I didn't even notice it on the list for some reason before voting.

There are admittedly some "big" ones on the list I have yet to see though (2001 and the original War of the Worlds for example).

2001: A Space Odyssey
Alien
Blade Runner
Dark City
The Matrix
Planet of the Apes
The Thing

The Fountain shouldn't really be a choice. It's not sci-fi at all.

Yet it has deep roots with science fiction. You don't consider Close Encounters and The Day The Earth Stood Still horror films just because they have aliens in them.

If a movie uses space, aliens, fictional planets, fictional corporations and futuristic space stations as a background it's all fictional, and all in relation to science. SCI-FI with Horror elements.

This is going to be a long day.

Oh, and just to repudiate your statement further, Elvis, the definition of a science fiction film is a film that uses science fiction: speculative, science-based depictions of phenomena that aren't necessarily accepted by mainstream science, such as extra-terrestrial life forms, alien worlds, esp, and time travel, often along with futuristic elements such as spacecraft, robots, or other technologies

You are just contradicting yourself yet again, Elvis. Alien is a science fiction horror film. It's sci-fi mixed with horror elements.

As I said we have had this discussion before (and it always turns out the same way us not agreeing). It's a Horror film that just happens to take place in space. The main element is Horror just as Star Wars is a Sci Fi Fantasy...but it is Sci Fi first and foremost and has no business being in the same poll as say Lord of The Rings.

Why is Star Wars not in this poll again?

You just like to live in your fantasy world where everything you say is right, huh? I'm willing to take another proof that Alien is a blend of both genres but you're just too much.

Go troll somewhere else where you're free to contradict shit. I'm tired of your damn arguments. I think it's time for you to leave the building.
