I don't recall any of the sequels being related to the original film. The characters, to my knowledge, weren't related to Evan of the first film. It was released as part of the Afterdark Horrorfest (the third, I believe), not the Masters of Horror (which were mostly only an hour long anyway).

Mods any way we could get these merged?

The answer to your questions appears to be yes. The Director's Cut seems to have become available in Australia as of March 1st 2010. I don't know anything about the region coding but I inquired about it on the aforementioned thread.
I just found a copy today at JB, it's region free..., 1080p and has all the special features from the DVD. Can't comment on PQ as I own the barebones edition & didn't want to double dip.

Good to hear! I need to decide if the Aussie release with the extras is worth the extra coin. Canadian can be had very reasonably and the transfer is supposed to be solid (if not spectacular). How did you find out definitively about the region coding???

Jb has it for $18.00AUD (instore price). ezydvd's price is a little steep for my liking http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/811076

The region coding on the back cover states ABC, It's the Directors Cut version. The Canadian release has a good transfer, outdoor shots really stand out, the 2nd time travel when he wakes up with Kayley looks fantastic, with it's deliberate over saturated colours.

I bought a copy in Australia but was pretty disappointed that it was not the directors cut. The ending on the directors cut (which I have on dvd) is massively superior.

So the Aussie BR of the first part comes with the theatrical cut and all the special features from the special edition, right? Does it contain English subtitles...normal ones or HOH...I don't care?

I own the DVD and found Kutcher's mumbling a bit hard to understand at times.

Who holds the distribution rights for this movie in th US? I had the Canadian version a while back but sold it because It only had the Director's cut ending and I much preffer the theatrical ending better. PQ and AQ is really good though.

It's a New Line catalog property. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Warner to do anything with it. The Butterfly Effect and its sequels have all been released in the rest of the world by other distributors.

Picked up the Butterfly Effect last month used at Suncoast for under 10 bucks. I assume it will be the same transfer for the one coming out from Warner. The cover art was double sided. One side English and the other side was some foreign lanauge. At first, I thought someone returned it but switch the cover art around to look like it was the English version. However, once I finally went to play this two weeks later after purchase I found the lanaguage is English.

Which version are you referring too? If it's the Canadian one then it definitely won't be the same since it will include both cuts and it will be OAR (at least I hope it will)
