We donate money to our friends who have special needs children or children with serious medical problems. In both cases, we then donate to the national funds that are established for those medical issues.

Not that it's a big deal, but we also unload all sorts of stuff to Goodwill.

My wife used to work for a children's hospital, running some of their charitable events. She hopes to get back to it after she runs our own charitable event, i.e., raising our children.

I donate and sponsor a child with World Vision.

Time is unfortunately something I have very little of.

The hospital I work at brings in groups of seniors, and I educate them on medication use. They usually bring in their meds with them, and I make sure they are taking them properly, the doses are appropriate, no interactions, and check if there are cheaper alternatives.

Mostly this for me too. Besides during the recent Haiti tragedy, I tend to donate money to Doctors Without Borders because I really like the work that they do, and they use a very high percentage of their donations for actual programs, rather than fundraising or administrative expenses.

I also donate to the Foundation Fighting Blindness. A relative of mine isn't even a teenager yet and she's already losing her eyesight, which first got me involved. Related to that, I participate in the yearly Vision Walk. They have Vision Walks in numerous cities across the US (maybe internationally too, I'm not sure), I go to the Philadelphia one.

As far as time, there's a local food pantry I help out at, but that's about it. I've thought about being a Salvation Army santa, but I couldn't stand all the bell ringing.

Basically, there's a lot of options out there.

Doctors without Borders gets my money. Mainly because they do good work but also because as a non-religious person I want my money going to purely secular groups.

I donate clothes every year to Goodwill. I also give money to my city ballet (I know, big deal!) and local NPR and PBS stations.

My dad bakes a couple dozen pumpkin pies for the Salvation Army every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm sure I'll take over once he gives it up.
