Lol, well I'm pretty sure as they are trying to draw people in to the culture and people of NOLA, that Steve Zahn stealing back his music is about as much crime as we will probably see. It's about trying to rebuild their lives and recover from the loss. I'm sure all the real crime was before the show is set. But hey I wouldn't mind seeing the crime aspect it just seems like if they want to separate themselves from The Wire it would be a bad move to do so. I have faith Simon and company will create a show I look forward to, so at this point even though I'm very lost by all this culture I know nothing of so I'm in it for the long haul. Sundays now have, True Blood repeats, The Pacific, Treme and Breaking Bad.

I love when network brass are fans of the creator because of previous projects. Treme is already in for the long haul after only one episode.

Quote:
"Treme" has been picked up for a second season, HBO announced Tuesday.

“I can’t think of another show that is more emblematic of what we aspire to be as a network than 'Treme.'" Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming. "In the tradition of 'The Wire,' David Simon and Eric Overmeyer have embarked on an exploration of the soul of one of the world’s most unique cities through the lives of an exquisitely crafted cast of characters. We are thrilled that the press has recognized the profound artistry and intelligence of this show and are eager to see where David and Eric take us in a second season.”

Production on Season 2 will begin in New Orleans in the fall, the network said.

"Treme" premiered Sunday; HBO's press release is below.

TREME SECOND SEASON PICK UP

‪HBO Entertainment

HBO has picked up its hour drama series Treme for a second season. Production will take place in New Orleans in the Fall of 2010.

MICHAEL LOMBARDO QUOTE:

In making the announcement Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, said, “I can’t think of another show that is more emblematic of what we aspire to be as a network than TREME. In the tradition of THE WIRE, David Simon and Eric Overmeyer have embarked on an exploration of the soul of one of the world’s most unique cities through the lives of an exquisitely crafted cast of characters. We are thrilled that the press has recognized the profound artistry and intelligence of this show and are eager to see where David and Eric take us in a second season.”
‪LOG LINE:

‪Treme explores a unique American culture rebuilding after historic devastation, chronicling the life of New Orleans residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.‪

Yeah me too. I didn't really have any doubts that the show would get a second season so fast. After the first episode of season 4 on the Wire, they ordered a fifth season right away as well. Looks like HBO has stopped making David Simon wait. Which is great for fans of good tv.

Yes. I was surprised how good it was. Nothing really even happened but it was great.

Yeah I know, it's not like it was an action show, but the characters where compelling enough to keep you watching. My favorite characters where always Omar and Lester. So it's funny that I find Albert my favorite character on Treme now. Clark Peters rules!

I don't think that matters for HBO.

It really doesn't. HBO trusts Simon pretty much like they trust Ball with True Blood.

I absolutely love this show already. I am definitely hooked. The music was great, the mood and setting of New Orleans right after Katrina seemed real and authentic. They really captured it. I can't wait to see the possibilities of where they take this show and I saw it is already renewed for a 2nd season. That shows how much confidence and trust HBO has in Simon.

Yeah, viewership doesnt really matter to networks like HBO because they get their money from people paying every month, not from advertising. If a show costs a lot to make and is bombing in ratings (Rome, so good) then they will cancel it but if not they will almost always give it time to grow.

I read in an interview that Simon said it will only be 4 or 5 seasons regardless.

I thought it was really good and will stick with it because I like the cast, the atmosphere and the pedigree involved. I haven't seen all of The Wire yet so I am anixously awaiting school to end to finally watch them all. It is one of the few shows I have never seen all of so can't wait!

The Wire lasted 5 seasons, I have no idea how they will make this work for 4 or 5, but having only seen one episode I couldn't truly judge where this show is heading.
