[Romulus]

I've seen this type of thread implemented on several sites before, and figured this would be a great community to do this type of event.

Each month we could dedicate that month to a certain movie and discuss within a thread. I find that it's extremely interesting if you get a number of people discussing a classic film within a short period of time. It's also great for expanding people's horizons on different films.

How do we select a film? Well for everyone that wants to participate for the month can do so by telling me. Anyone could nominate a movie and I'll select 5 randomly and we can vote on them in a poll.

If you guys want to do this more than once a month that's completely fine. I'm just using once a month as a starting point.

I also suggest for films we nominate ones that will spur discussion, so I'm leaning away from mindless popcorn movies unless a case could be made.

I think one was started a couple of months ago..... first movie was "Triangle" and they're still discussing it, and haven't moved on to the next movie yet.....

Well, it wasn't through the movie club. Squid recommended it, I watched and and provided a long-winded interpretation, craziness ensued, a posse was formed, 20 pages later, the thread still thrives

I would, but from your first post, I've already seen those films and a few of them I'd rather not see again.

I think this site is too chaotic for any sort structure like a movie club.

It's a great idea, the only problem is that it forces a group of ppl to watch the same film at once. That's tough because of schedules, but also because ppl have in their mind what films they want to watch so if they may not be inclined to revisit a film. Trust me, I love the idea.
