I live in the California desert city of Victorville. Hundreds of films have been shot here, but I always get a kick out of this scene in the 50's big-bug movie Tarantula. This stretch of road is only a few miles from my house, and whenever I drive it I see that big 'ol spider coming towards me!

Also, several years back I watched Kurt Russell running around our downtown area performing scenes in Breakdown.

Gran Torino was shot in different parts of the metro-Detroit area. A scene from the Red Dawn remake was shot less then a mile away from me. They had a tank outside a building (abandoned old K-Mart head quarters) for a few days.

Both those movies won about 6 oscars each... true story...
Not to shabby!

The Wraith
Cannonball Run 2
Can't buy me Love
Revenge of the Nerds
Tin Cup
Tombstone
Transformers 2 (just off the top of my head.)

You can always claim your "parent" city, Chicago.

While Aurora is large enough to stand on it's own it is still considered part of the Chicago Metro Area. Tons of films have been filmed in Chicago - both the City and surrounding area. Most notably The Blues Brothers and The Dark Knight as well as tons of others. Most recently the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake was filmed in the area too.

Only movie to come out of my sleepy town is Edward Scissorhands; the neighborhood is just a couple miles out form where I live.

I live in Toronto.

Every time you see NY in the movies, chances are they were filming here.

I'm in Vancouver (other suburbs) so I see film crews all the time. Lots of those neon signs pointing to location shoots. I think the most recent one I saw was for Stargate or Smallville.

A cool drive by was seeing one of the big sound stages where they shot X2 or X3..can't remember.

Thanks

Vancouver otherwise known as Washington State for filming purposes, lol. Nearly everytime something takes place in my area it is really Vancouver.

Public Enemies & Meet the Applegates were both filmed (in part) in my home town. I believe Major League & Mr 3000 were filmed in Milwaukee which is about 90 miles away.

Here are a couple shots I took of the set the day before shooting started on Public Enemies. They still hadn't taken the modern street signs & traffic lights down.

Not films, but The Black Crowes Hard to Handle & Motley Crue's Same Old Situation videos were shot at Alpine Valley in East Troy WI, which is about a 2 hour drive from me.

All I know is that I see my old apartment on Central Park South in New York City in about every single movie or show that takes place in Manhattan. It's a beautiful building and I miss it terribly.

(No, I did not have a park view. I was on the 18th floor looking back over the downtown.)

There was a moment of sheer panic when I thought O_V_N's apartment overlooked the park, and was obviously more expensive then mine.
