Nice pics bandapart.

Does anyone know if Avatar is released on 3-D blu-ray then will a standard 60Hz tv LCD HDTV be good enough o watch it in 3D or do I have to get a 120 Hz for the glasses to work.

I believe you need a 3D compatible TV with at least 120hz and glasses.

...the first release of Avatar on Blu scheduled for June will NOT include a 3D version (wont be released till sometime in 2010!!!). you have plenty of time to prepare, and can probably opt for 240 Hz by then.

Yeah but I just bought a 60Hz LCD 6 months ago.
And I planned on using it for a longer time.
Ah well.
Guess I'll just watch the included 2D version then.

I won't buy again till they hit 480Hz.

It seems Brana was right. With the news of a barebones for April, it makes sense why Fox didn't want any special editions. The re release in 3D makes it a more likely to be made in steelbook. I guess I won't buy this movie until November.

Will the 3D release be backwards compatible with 2D, i.e. if I buy the special collector's edition with all the shazam extras, etc., can I still watch it on my 2D flatscreen TV?

So, just to be clear, the 2 steelbooks im seeing is scanavo printing their designs on an SB because they won a design contest? While i want an Avatar SB, i was hoping people would not use that poster image to do the frontal of it. It just seems... too generic..

no,
they didn't design the avatar or transformers 2 steelbook,
they won the contest with other steelbooks design and the price was 2 steelbooks (Transformers 2 and Avatar)

Ah ok.
Thanks for the info.
Do you have link to this competition?
Or was it a forum exclusive competition.

Those are some seriously beautiful steelbooks.
