Some of the newer shows reality shows are funny though. As long as you don't take them seriously then it's fine. It's pretty interesting what some people will do just to get on TV.

Tyler Perry shows come to mind. Yuck! (Disclaimer - No offense if you like them!). House of Payne, Meet the Browns - I can't even sit through 5 minutes of that stuff (although I gave only a half-hearted effort). Comedy that doesn't have the funny parts.

My friends and I have a joke that the best thing Tyler Perry ever did was Star Trek.

The other thing I can't stand is any show with a laugh track. They need to have faith that their viewers are intelligent and know when something is funny. Probably why I love Community and other NBC shows.

The only shows with laugh tracks I liked were I Love Lucy and Friends.

Ugh same here. She looks like a trainwreck, and comes across as just a supremely negative, unfun and unfunny wench.

I don't understand how that's popular when they have Talk Soup which is a far superior show. Plus, what's with the midget? I mean little person.

I watched five minutes of American Idol last year while waiting for Fringe to come on. It was so annoying that I had to turn the sound down.

It seems like people just want to name the most popular shows they can that they hate and talk smack about them. That's not what the thread is about you know. It's the ones that have no general appeal. I mean Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Desperate Housewives... seriously. I may be biased since I like those three in particular. Okay, you don't like the shows, fine. But are they really that god-awful that you can't think of any reason what-so-ever as to why people would even remotely like them... please, that's BS.

Then again whatever. Opinions, opinions. Maybe someone should start a "what shows do you hate" thread. That seems a little easier - since every show has some appeal to someone in the world, which makes this thread nearly impossible.

I can even see why people like reality shows, they like to see people's "actual real-life" lives. How they deal with problems. Bonding and all that kinda crap. Though if I was forced to name one show it would definitely be Jersey Shore. I mean that show is disgusting, you can get an STD from just looking at it. MTV is an ooze-pit of vulgarity. Worse than the VH1 network. Both alleged music networks, neither actually play music anymore. Ironic - isn't it.

P.S. If anybody says Grey's Anatomy, Lost or Desperate Housewives again, sadly I'm going to have to kill you. That's all.

True, but even popular shows can be horrible. I love Desperate Housewives, I used to think it was stupid before I even watched it but now I'm far from that.

But this thread is the same as the movie thread, obviously there's movies that some people LOVE where others think they're horrible, popular or unpopular. I made it because there's shows that I just can't understand how anyone watches them, but I noticed there's a pattern in what people like (from another thread) So I was curious.

Pretty much it. The only show I watch on CBS is The Big Bang Theory. I like it for what it is, a silly sitcom about nerds. It's fun when I'm bored, but I much prefer NBC's comedies. Shows on CBS are mostly easy, unoriginal and non-risky, yet CBS is the most successful network. It pays to follow a proven formula.

I honestly don't understand how CBS has the "best" comedy when it's really the worst. The drama shows are funnier than the comedies, because NONE of them are funny.

The only shows I like on CBS are The Good Wife, NCIS and Medium (but that got canceled of course)

I really don't understand the draw of the Bachelor and Bachelorette. I thought "Farmer wants a housewife" was really funny because all these city girls suddenly were catching chickens, scooping manure and checking cows for pregnancy.

But the bachelor and -ette have never drawn me.
