I know several times when Macruz and I go, one of us will see a movie we want but put it back because it is covered in those horrid sale stickers. This is a big problem for those of us who love slip covers.

It is not really a big problem on new releases, but on older movies, it can completely destroy the slip cover.

Even if the cost was a little higher to get it from somewhere else, I would pay it just to avoid the damage by the stickers.

Other than that, I think I share everyone else's opinion.

That's the same one I used to go to when we lived over there in an apartment off of Touchton.

That's another good point about the stickers on slip covers. I really wish they would stop that too. Or at least use the type that peel off without taking half the slipcover with it. I'm not hung up on slip covers, but if the movie comes with one I would like to have it undamaged.

That Big Red Sticker that says something like "Hot Price or Hot Deal". It's hard to get off sometimes.

BTW, the last BD I bought there was Iron Man during the Summer for $19.99. It had that big red sticker, but I was lucky it didn't damage the slip cover. At that time I thought that was a steal since normally it was listed $29.99 every where during that time.

Moviestop,

If you need help with creating the thread.. I can help, and keep it updated on a daily basis

If you're really careful you can usually get those stickers off without damaging your slip cover, but they're a PITA. There are other stickers though, that peel off easily without damaging the cover that they could use. Or better yet, forget the sticker altogether.

OR, they could rewrap the movie then put the stickers on. Then it would protect the slip covers... and prevent the sticker damage.

If I have trouble getting it off. I'll go all out and use Goo Gone. Won't harm the ink on the slip cover and it works. That's my last resort if I can't remove the sticker.

I noticed that Amazon, or even the Star Trek movie now seal their movies with the slip inside.

So how about those spider security things that WM or Target uses.
They usually are wrapped around box set editions, but they are damaged on the outside. I don't think anyone would buy that if it's listed for $100 with a damamged box.

I know they are probably used, and it's all about theft loss/prevention, but you guys have that anit-theft alarm at the front door right?

Those are the things I mentioned earlier, but I don't think my description was as good. I absolutely hate those. I won't buy a movie with a slip cover if one of those has been put on because they mess it up so badly. If security is that big of a deal, why can't they just put a case out on display and then you have go ask for the movie at the counter? That would be better than smashing the slip cover all the way around.

Exactly. They have several stacked up at their counter. I think it's mainly for reserves, but those new movies with slips have not been marked with a price tag.

It's nice to see a MovieStop employee actually Googling what people are saying about his store, to essentially "listen" to what people think.

Makes me want to at least give MovieStop a look, but there are 0 in my area (and, in fact, none in all of NY state).

Currently our system can not accomadate reserving a title at one location and picking it up at another but as we grow that is an enhancement that is a must and I really appreciate the feedback.

We also stopped the practice of taking the Blu-ray out of the case on new product, we only did so in the beginning because of theft issues.Again, please visit one of our stores and call me directly after your visit.
This is definitely good to hear. I really like the selection at Movie Stop, the one I check in on(Orange Park, FL) always seemed to have the "obscure" titles I am usually after. They were the only place locally that had The Final Countdown. And there used sale prices are usually top notch.

Another Jax resident? (Orange Park is close enough.) If you're referring to the store on Blanding that's the one I go in sometimes as well.

MOVIESTOP, why would call yourself Moviestop exactly? You must be a real dedicated employee.

It's possible that's his real name (Steve Moviestop), and the company is named after him.

That's the one. I liked the store as far as the staff goes. There are quite a few knowledgable movie lovers working there. Back before Blu-ray they were my main fix for Criterions and Asian horror. The new policy of not opening the movies will help them alot. I know quite a few people who refused to buy from them for that reason alone. I may take a trip to look around this weekend and see.

First, we beat the lowest nationally advertised price on all New Release Blu-rays when you reserve the movie in advance. This means if you reserve 2012this weekend since Best Buy has it advertised at $19.99 your price would be $18.87

Second, I personally visit Best Buy, Target and Walart and compare our pricing to theirs and have found 44% of the time our prices are lower, 43% of the time we are at the same price and just 13% of the time are prices were higher (usually due to a temporary sale that retailer is running).

Third, for the last 6 months we have been running an Up To 50% Off Blu-ray Sale that is located at the front of our store offering over 100 titles every week; that's often 2 to 3 times more on sale then Best Buy, Wal-Mart or Target.

Lastly, we are intruducing a new program where you can Trade in 3 Blu-rays and get titles like Avatar and Sherlock Holmes FREE.

Please call me at 770-590-1765 x 225 so I can find out exactly what titles you have found and where that are lower priced then ours; we are dedicated to making Blu-ray fans like yourseleves our best customers and I would appreciate the opportunity to talk you.

Thanks

Steve

Thanks for all of the info Steve, my local Moviestop has proved a happy hunting ground for me on new releases and used titles. With regards to the trade three Blus for a new release, when will that become active?

I went and perused the blu-ray section of the local MovieStop this afternoon. The sale prices were quite good, but unfortunately none of the titles for sale really jumped out at me. There were still some issues though. Two movies that jumped out at me that I thought were priced ridiculously high were Star Trek and Wolverine. Used copies of these movies were $24.99 and new copies were $29.99. I don't know what the national average price is for these titles, but those prices are outrageous IMO. There were also quite a few movies with the spider wire security thing around them. Every one I picked up and examined was damaged by this thing. So in a nutshell, the sale prices were good, but they still have some work to do IMO.

Steve, funny you should mention those two titles, I just lowered the used price to $19.99 so they may not have changed the price yet at the store. The studios have not lowered the price yet on the new versions, instead they put them on sale every other month. The spider thing really is a pain and we spoke to the area managers about not strangling the product.
