Is there even a Blu-ray version of the 2 disc edition (maybe 1 disc, if it were on Blu)? Amazon has the 5 disc (now 4, I'm assuming) for 28 bucks. I don't think they'd bother with anything less.

Looked at DVD Shop again and now see that it is Warner Bros. site. Sorry Paladin, I'm sure I made a mistake and you don't actually own WB. If you in fact do, however, hey man can I have a job?

Same here. I'm not buying any special or limited editions (anymore )if they don't have extra content.

The pre-order link on the site takes you to all the order options including the "Complete" 5 disc version. However, there is no picture of it on the product info link ....
I still think that it is a "go"

Nice site, also

I could have sworn that the Media count on the ultimate was 5, but now it's one. If both are only One BD disk, and the only advantage of the Ultimate over the Complete is the Workprint version, I think I'll have to change to the Complete, as the Workprint alone isn't worth that much money.

Kind of depends on when you watched it. If you saw it when it came out then you can appreciate how influential it was. If you watched it recently and fail to see what the big deal is then so be it, but that would be your shortcoming.

To me the movie is very unique because it treats the replicants as very interesting characters who have thoughts and feelings of their own, rather than background characters like every other sci-fi movie. Rather than the linear or binary relationships that usually exists between humans and androids, those in Blade Runner had lots of gray area.

I was kind of assuming that the four disc edition would basically end up being a port over onto Blu-ray and HD-DVD. However, have these HD editions always been an entirely separate entity than the DVD's? For some reason I thought I remembered the 5 disc Complete Collection also being available on DVD. There is absolutely no mention of either HD release on Warner's site, and no link to preorder either. I hope the original 5 disc is still a go. Odd they don't mention it though.

Right, but those are Amazon preorders. I found it odd that Warner's site has no mention of or option to preorder the high def versions on their own site.

Complete set for me. The Ultimate set isn't storage friendly.

The Blade Runner - Final Cut web site has a pre-order link directly to the WB on-line store, but no 5 disc "Complete" ..... just the 4 disc, 2 disc and Ultimate. Located just above the Amazon link.

I am as excited as anyone about this release. I remember as if it was just yesterday, sitting in the cinema in 1982 totally mezmerized by this stark vision of the future.

Is it just me or are there too many versions/options ? It's starting to get a bit confusing about what to do ....

I still can't believe this is only 27.95. Content per dollar, this thing is a monster.

Where is the Neither option?

I like the film but not a fan enough to own it on DVD/BD.

Question Blade Runner: Complete or Ultimate?

I am looking to expand my Blu-ray collection over the holiday season (who isn't right?).

I am trying to decide which version of Blade Runner to get, here's where I need the help:

Does the "complete" set come with all 5 discs that the "ultimate" version comes with? I'd like to have that fancy case and everything, but if the blu-ray disc content itself is the same, I would be content with the complete version for half the price.

My current collection includes
-The Untouchables
-Sleepy Hollow (bought these yesterday before the Paramount blu-ray stock is gone)
-Stranger Than Fiction
-300 (...everyone needs to own this on blu-ray)
-The Fifth Element
-The Pursuit of Happyness
-TMNT
-Planet Earth Collection (also another necessity)
-Casino Royale
-Mission Impossible (The only good Mission Impossible of the trio is the first one)

Yes, the complete edition contains all 5 five discs. Not so for SD, there you won't get the fifth discs unless you go ultimate.

Also check out this link.

Never was on any other side

There still seems to be some confusion on if the complete has that 5th disc. Amazon has it as yes, the Warner site doesn't even have the "complete" version at all...I guess the only way to find out is to wait a bit longer. I just think that $27.95 seems a bit on the cheap side for a 5 disc set (not that I would be complaining).

UPDATE: I was wrong in saying that Warner doesn't have the complete version listed, they do, they just don't have the number of discs listed.

are all the versions in hd, only the final cut says restored and remastered from what i read, could this be why it is only 27 bucks?

I RETRACT MY PREVIOUS STATEMENT, I JUST READ A PRESS RELEASE FROM WARNER THAT SAYS ALL THE MOVIES WILL BE IN 1080P, BUT DELETED SCENES AND EXTRAS WILL BE IN 480P.
