Looks like the movie may be closer to reality as it seems they are already casting it as Peter Serafinowicz claims he has a role in the upcoming movie.

I'm glad somebody bumped this thread. I used to think Seinfeld was my fave show, but Arrested tops it...

I can't believe the movie has taken this long...Come On!

I'm worried that a movie will hurt the reputation that the show had. It may not have the same impact/style if moved to the big screen.

The last 4 or so episodes of season 3 were good enough to be lumped into a movie by themselves.

I think it's time to make some mayoneggs with club sauce to celebrate.

BTW: We need Tobias to get the Blu man group to put Arrested Development on BD!!!

Do you guys think the show would have been funnier if it had originally aired on HBO? I think that was the plan with the extended pilot. IMHO, it was to slowly paced. I think the 21 min is perfect for the Bluth craziness to unfold. Oddly, the bleeping works quite well too.

Do you guys think a fourth season would have been great, or do you think AD was better for a short-run? Unlike most shows, AD was at its prime @ the end. I think it had nowhere to go but up.

It's really sad that much of the public doesn't know about AD, or despises it. They don't realize that The Office and Modern Family took the hidden jokes/pacing from AD.

It's so difficult to explain why footage from a surveillance camera or a sexual innuendo is freaking hilarious, but a lot of people just don't get it. It's quite sad

It is hard to imagine the show being any funnier than it was. However if the show was on HBO it probably would have lasted longer.

I hope the movie lives up to my expectations. Its been so long since the show was cancelled that I'm a bit worried.

Why should we believe in you?

For the same reason you should believe that a hundred dollar bill is no more than a hundred pennies!

Tambor: 'Arrested Development film within year'

Quote:
effrey Tambor has said that a script for the highly anticipated Arrested Development movie "may" be complete.

Earlier this year, Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz told DS that he and co-writer Jim Valley were beginning to work on the feature film adaptation.

Tambor, who portrayed both the manipulative George Bluth and his kindly twin brother Oscar on the cult hit, has now claimed that Hurwitz and Valley continue to work steadily on the project.

"Here's what I know and it's the truth, rather than any hype, and I'm pleased to say it," the actor said, according to BlackBook magazine. "The script is being written even as we speak, and it may even be completed."

He continued: "I think all systems are go, and I think it's very possible that you and I could be talking about the making of this film or even it being made by this time next year.

"It's all going forward and we have a better opening now, it's the perfect opening. I think it would be foolish not to take advantage. We have a better fanbase now than we did then."

Tambor further explained that one highlight of working on Arrested Development was getting to play two opposing characters like George and Oscar, which he revealed happened only by chance.

"Oh, I loved it," he said. "There's a story about that. I had a terrible wig for George when they did the younger George, so we were trying on wigs one day, and we had it real long, and all of a sudden, I think somehow I walked out of the make-up trailer and Mitch Hurwitz was there, and he said, 'Hold it, don't move'.

"He called the writers over, and right there the brother was born. Oscar wasn't even conceived until then. And that was the thing about Mitch and the series - it had a very serendipitous nature. It was tightly written, it wasn't all improv, but I mean the fact that a character could just be born, just like that."

His co-star Jason Bateman recently touted Hurwitz and Valley's screenplay as "incredible" and promised that the movie will be "everything [fans] would want it to be and more".

Didn't start a new thread because, well, we all know what happened after a movie was "announced". But they had a reunion today, so get the hype train going!

I can't believe it's finally happening, with an extra season to boot. This is GREAT news!

I'm glad I was a part of the fanbase for both this and Firefly, because the shows got to live on past cancellation.
