I agree with what you're saying about sony. Should you ask yourself this question
Why should I spend $500 on a video game system?
If you make a video game console, you need to convince everyone that this is the machine to have in your home and support that with evidence.

WOW! Edge gave this game a 6.0!! It's very interesting to me how PS3 scores seem to be all over the place from one reviewer to the next. First Lair, now Heavenly Sword and Warhawk. I just don't get it. I don't know why that is but it's......interesting.

Well not only that, but you have to ask yourselves, "is this game worth 60 dollars of my money?" That's the thing. Are all these games coming out like Lair, Warhawk, and Heavenly Sword "good" games? Yeah probably. Are the games 60 dollars good? I don't know.

A 6 means that the game is below average.

Means that persons opinion is that it's average.

Just like some people here don't think Resistance is all that, some of us love it.

I know about IGN's scoring and from what I know, they score games on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest. Getting a 10 is extremely rare. Games that fall in the 9's are the bread and butter of whatever console they are on, the lower nines may have a few minior drawbacks such as slowdown. Games that fall in the 8's miss the boat in a few areas, but still come highly recommended by IGN. Games in the 8's might lack an online mode, or have slowdown. Games in the 7's are about average as the game might have too short of a story mode, lack of multiplayer, lack of an online mode or might just feel rushed overall. Games in the 6's are at the bottom of the barrel and probably aren't worth your time or money. I have never played a game below a 6 with the expection of mario party. When you get into something that is a 5, major things are missing, maybe the controls are buggy, choppy framerate, etc. Anything at a 4, is not worth your time or money. It's not that you have to only stick to games that are 9's and 8's. I have found out in most situations that games in the 8's and 9's are the ones that I enjoy the most and games in the 6's and 7's are average as I would describe them, but they aren't nessarly bad. I never said anything was bad.

Yes I know. I just meant that from one reviewer to another, the scores for all 3 of the big PS3 titles (Warhawk, Lair, & Heavenly Sword) are so much in contrast of one another, it's almost like they're playing totally different games. How do you get a score like a 9.7 for Heavenly Sword in one review and then a friggin 6.0 in another?!? Same with Warhawk and Lair! I don't remember so many games for a single platform ever that had such differing opinions on them by the reviewers. Are expectations among reviewers unfairly higher for PS3 titles? Do the games actually NOT live up to the hype? I just find it hard to believe that Sony has struck out on ALL THREE of theses titles among reviewers. Geez what exclusives are left for the holiday season? We have Drake's Fortune, Little Big Planet, Haze, Unreal Tournament 3, and what else? What if none of these titles live up to the hype? Will the PS3 be S.O.L. for the holiday season?

I really have no idea how scores can vary. Would it depend on the setup being used for the game? Type of TV, resolution, sound, etc? Does everyone get the same version of the game?

I think different people have different things they are impressed by. Some reviewers review strictly on their enjoyment and are oblivious to reviewing the actual quality of the game. Same with movie reviews..

People are just stupid. For the most part, each of those games probably falls somewhere in between the 6 and 9.7 range, some people just take little problems and blow them out of proportion and others are so overly hyped about something the game does in excess and is going apeshit. I don't trust anyone's reviews, I just take a basic idea from a mix of many and then decide whether I want to even try the game.

I bet the 6 review called the game a poor man's God of War and the 9.7 review is someone who loves God of War so much that they salivate at the thought of a female version of it. That's not to say the same is exactly like God of War, I actually don't like that game very much, but found the demo of Heavenly Sword pretty fun.

It does seem like regardless of whether there's good or EXCELLENT reviews, people here always concentrate on the bad ones.

I'm sure you're right. However just to compare, when games like Oblivion or GeOW came out, it was pretty darn unanimous among reviewers that they were great games. The same seems to be true for Bioshock. I was really hoping that at least ONE of these PS3 titles would achieve that same status.

Yet I think a lot of reviewers hate the PS3 in general .. so it may be bias.

Some people do hate the ps3. Some may hate blu-ray. Nothing that we can do about it.

Of course not. Just saying some of these bad reviews may be generated from 360 fanboys.

Do you think that a 360 fanboy would have nerve, I should say, to make us change our mind about the ps3 and go with the 360 instead?

wow because of the ign uk review

i am seriously thinking twice about buying this game, isnt anybody eles?

i mean they complained about some serious stuff there...repetitive, frustrating, and only 6-7 hours of gameplay for a $60 game?

i might have to wait for more reviews before i go out and pre-order it now..

im sad too because i really looking forward to this game
