![]() I am known as a frugal person, and I only purchase movies that I know will be ones I'll want t watch once a year, or get urges to watch on occasion. The majority of movies don't fall into that category. I weigh the cost vs. pleasure I'll receive ratio when buying anything. Most movies won't provide me with $20 of pleasure. I'd rather put the money in savings or put it towards something worth having. Seeing watched-once Blurays lined up on a shelf doesn't do anything for me. I spend about a dollar per movie to watch them with netflix, that I do like....just not the horrific wait times that occasionally occur. |

Well I am part German, but I am more Norwegian so hopefully that cancels the "Nazi" out of me.

Yes, the assumption is you mail Saturday and they receive it on Monday. It has always worked for me if the selection is at the top of my queue.

Another trick that has worked for me is to have NOTHING else in your queue. I've seen "very long wait" discs ship out with maybe one extra day between the time they receive my previous disc and the time they ship it out. |

The title of the film was inspired by the English title of director Enzo Castellari's 1978 war film, The Inglorious Bastards. When asked for an explanation of the film's title spelling during a news conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Tarantino said, "I'm never going to explain that". When pushed on it, Tarantino would not explain the first u in Inglourious, but said, "The Basterds? That's just the way you say it: Basterds." Tarantino later stated in an interview that the misspelled title is "a Basquiat-esque touch." He further commented on Late Show with David Letterman that Inglourious Basterds is the "Tarantino way of spelling it." Wikpedia original plot: Set in Europe during WWII, a group of American soldiers are in the process of being shipped off to military prison for a variety of infractions, ranging from desertion to murder. While they're being transported, a German artillery attack hits the convoy, killing the MPs and enabling four of the prisoners to escape. The group decides their best bet is to head to neutral Switzerland where they can avoid the fighting and prison. As they make their way to what they think will be freedom, they end up volunteering for a commando mission to steal a V2 warhead for the French Underground. Somehow, the team must sneak into the most heavily guarded base in German territory, steal the Nazi's most precious military hardware, and bring it back to the allies without getting arrested again by their own side. that would have been a fatal error for me, as I didn't care for the film. In very rare cases, I will blind buy, but I'd rather use up the $20 I'm spending anyway on Netflix than waste $20 on a film I'll never watch again.
example of where I do blind buy: I just blind bought "Walkabout," because of the reviews it received by people on here whose opinion I heavily consider, plus its Criterion ![]() |
