The majority of movies don't fall into that category. I weigh the cost vs. pleasure I'll receive ratio when buying anything. Most movies won't provide me with $20 of pleasure. I'd rather put the money in savings or put it towards something worth having. Seeing watched-once Blurays lined up on a shelf doesn't do anything for me. I spend about a dollar per movie to watch them with netflix, that I do like....just not the horrific wait times that occasionally occur.

Well I am part German, but I am more Norwegian so hopefully that cancels the "Nazi" out of me.

Yep, that's been my method as well. Usually works, but sometimes I'll load up my Netflix queue Monday morning to see if they shipped me the new release for Tuesday and they will have skipped over it and sent the next one. When that occurs, I know I'll be in for a long wait. Although I missed it with Avatar and they still sent me one the next day even though it said "Very Long Wait;" perhaps they have a lot in stock of that movie.

It's in my queue. I've been wanting to see it since watching the original, hopefully I'll get to it this weekend.

I don't know, I guess I assumed that since Netflix started charging extra to rent BD titles tht maybe they would get more stock in so 1/2 year waits wouldn't occur. I've found out that if I do not time it perfectly and have a open slot for them to send me a movie on its release date, then I will have to wait a good month or two before I get it. I love Netflix, for the most part, but the wait time on some movies is incredibly long, and when the same movie is listed as "long wait" for weeks on end my brain begins to implode. Am I the only one?
I have the exact same story, but I am still waiting for A Serious Man. Hell, it might almost be worth it to blindbuy the BD for $16.

Avatar was an exception because it was released last Thursday rather than the usual Tuesday. I got it Thursday by shipping a disc back last Tuesday.

I haven't got Netflix yet, but I gather what you are saying is to avoid a long wait on a new blu release mail back another title on Saturday, that way you will be first in line to receive the blu on release day?

Yes, the assumption is you mail Saturday and they receive it on Monday. It has always worked for me if the selection is at the top of my queue.

Another trick that has worked for me is to have NOTHING else in your queue. I've seen "very long wait" discs ship out with maybe one extra day between the time they receive my previous disc and the time they ship it out.

I don't think they ordered very many copies. It's the only movie that still shows Very Long Wait on my queue.

And I have a lot of recent stuff on my queue. Not a big deal of course, cause I'm not a Tarantino fan.

It's not the "original". Tarintino's isn't a remake, it just has the same name.

I do the same to get new movies on release week .BUT WHY TELL EVERYONE HOW? You will just make it harder to get new release's for people who figured out the system!

It is a parody very loosely based on the original.

The title of the film was inspired by the English title of director Enzo Castellari's 1978 war film, The Inglorious Bastards. When asked for an explanation of the film's title spelling during a news conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Tarantino said, "I'm never going to explain that". When pushed on it, Tarantino would not explain the first u in Inglourious, but said, "The Basterds? That's just the way you say it: Basterds." Tarantino later stated in an interview that the misspelled title is "a Basquiat-esque touch." He further commented on Late Show with David Letterman that Inglourious Basterds is the "Tarantino way of spelling it." Wikpedia

original plot:

Set in Europe during WWII, a group of American soldiers are in the process of being shipped off to military prison for a variety of infractions, ranging from desertion to murder. While they're being transported, a German artillery attack hits the convoy, killing the MPs and enabling four of the prisoners to escape. The group decides their best bet is to head to neutral Switzerland where they can avoid the fighting and prison. As they make their way to what they think will be freedom, they end up volunteering for a commando mission to steal a V2 warhead for the French Underground. Somehow, the team must sneak into the most heavily guarded base in German territory, steal the Nazi's most precious military hardware, and bring it back to the allies without getting arrested again by their own side.

i waited over 2 months on Inglorious. Fortunately, most of my netflix queue is not "popular new release" category like Inglorious or Blind Side. I'm perfectly content renting Criterion and Classics, which rarely have a long wait.

I was just about th say this. I can understand the Blind Side, since it really wasn't that good. Inglorious Basterds is a definite buy. If I had to wait that long, I just would have rented it off the tv.

that would have been a fatal error for me, as I didn't care for the film. In very rare cases, I will blind buy, but I'd rather use up the $20 I'm spending anyway on Netflix than waste $20 on a film I'll never watch again.

example of where I do blind buy: I just blind bought "Walkabout," because of the reviews it received by people on here whose opinion I heavily consider, plus its Criterion
