Remember the season where Jack Bauer was the only person who could thwart the terrorists, but he also had to save Kim, who had gotten herself into deep trouble? MAN, was that a good season. Which one was that?

I truly miss The Jack Bauer Power Hour.

Season 5 is the pick for me. Started with a bang and never let you go.

Of course the first three seasons will always be special. Day one is, as someone just posted, a masterpiece. Season 2 is as well even despite the Kim plot. And the final 10 of season 3 is one of the best runs of episodes in a season ever.

Man, what a great show.

Season 1 was the best because by about the 3rd season you knew more or less what was going to happen.

One of the reasons why I chose season 1 was that was the seasons I remember the most clearly. All of the other seasons seasons blend together for me.

The first part of season 3 was kind of blah but it really went into high gear with Paul Blackthorn playing the villain, a comrade of Jack’s left behind and tortured made it personal. He told Jack that one day his government would leave him behind and they did.

Purely on an action basis, is there any show that rivals 24? The gun fight under the bridge leading to the F-18's in season 3, the raid on the terrorist compound to save Heller in season 4, the gas plant in season 5... they feel like set pieces worthy of a major blockbuster movie.

Still my favorite show after all these years

The S3 scene you mentioned with the F-18s and the helicopters was phenomenal! Better than a lot of action set pieces you see in big budget movies! That’s the one scene that I remember most for the whole of 24!

Oh sure, S5 was great compared to 6, although the first 4 episodes of S6 were promising and explosive.

Entire thing is really one of the most kickass shows ever.

Season 1 already had 1 real howler too. I forgot the specifics, but one of the bad guys was captured, one of Victor Drazen's sons perhaps, and he was hospitalized. And this secretary lady remained with him in the room. She was David Palmer's secretary. Drazen Jr. was basically Jack's only lead at that point, and of course she kills him for targeting her boss. I thought that was a huge moment where the seams were showing to me.

I also thought it was one of Dennis Hopper's weakest roles. Not a showstopper, but I recall giggling during some supposedly painful moments, like when he laments the loss of one of his sons.

Huh? Elizabeth Nash, one of Palmer's campaign staff and his goddaughter, not a secretary, was having an affair with Alexis Drazen. His real identity was unknown to her. When CTU identified him she immediately came clean and volunteered to see him again in order to place a tracker in his wallet. When she sees him Alexis starts taunting her by saying he's fallen in love with her, Elizabeth kinda loses it at that point and stabs him.

After that he is hospitalized and no one besides George Mason visits him in the hospital.

One thing that always amazes me with this show is how much the characters accomplish in one day, let alone even a few hours. My days are way too short and fly by that I can't even accomplish a fraction of the amount of things these characters in 24 accomplish.

It helps that they can drive anywhere in LA county in 10 minutes.
