Australia is now part of the Asian qualification.. New Zealand was is in the Oceanic group, which doesn't have any teams that can play football.. The winner of the Oceanic group then qualifies for a playoff game against a team from the Asian qualifier..

Thats how it works now

Favorites based on current form are Brazil, Netherlands (Holland), and Spain. Then the usual suspects Italy and Germany (both know how to win these events and can usually do it with average teams). The Argentinians have a great squad but a buffoon as coach so I think they will be lucky to get out of the first round. The English look good on paper (best team since '90) and, as always, are picked to win it by their confident (some would say deluded) fans. I see them as probable quarter finalists and maybe semifinalists but I just can't see them winning it all. The US, while having no chance at winning, should manage the second round and maybe even the quarters. Can't wait til Saturday's game with England. Give those Brits hell

I venture a guess of 1-1 or maybe even a US victory given England's propensity for slow WC starts. The French are just horrible and shouldn't even have made the tournament. Maybe Henri and Maradona can get together discuss wine, tactics and bidets.

Overall, I would have to favor one of the European teams primarily because of the weather/climate. Winter in SA will be right up their perspective alleys. European teams do not like hot humid climates. I can still see a bedraggled and exhausted German team hanging on for dear life against the S. Koreans in the sweltering Texas heat in '94. It was effing unbelievable.

He shouldn't be the coach of the national team. I'm absolutely sure there are many more qualified coaches in Argentina. But imagine for a second the insanity that follows if Argentina wins the WC?
