I'm not a massive fan of Dream Child, but I do like the Gothic visuals and extremely mean-spirited deaths. Shame the R-rated cut is the only one available on Blu-ray.

Honestly, while I love almost every installment in the Elm Street franchise in spite of their wildly varied quality, I probably love Wes Craven's New Nightmare the least because the meta concept sounds better on paper than actually executed. It has a rather pompous self-importance kind of attitude that doesn't really work for me.

Hell, i'm not really a fan of Wes Craven's meta horror films (with the exception of Scream 4). I'd say that Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and Cabin the Woods did meta horror much better overall.

Once again I'm with you on this one.

Freddy's Revenge is a worthy follow up to the original. It is the only sequel that retains the horror roots of the original and doesn't make a complete mockery of the whole Elm Street legacy unlike the later sequels. I also like Dream Warriors though, that is where the Nightmare series ends for me.

Man, imagine just showing someone blind to the series the original, Freddy's Revenge and Freddy's Dead while totally skipping Dream Warriors through Dream Child.

In a weird way, you totally could since there's nothing in Freddy's Dead that super connects to almost all of the other films (except for Freddy's "how they've killed me" monologue and the clipshow during the end credits).

I didn't really like #2 but not because it was terrible. I just didn't think Jesse was a compelling lead.

And TBH apart from the leather bar scene, I didn't think the movie was a gay fest the way the documentary makes it seem. Then again, I'm a woman and I'm not constantly looking out for that kind of stuff the way some guys are.

Come on, you can't skip Dream Warriors. That one made Freddy into Freddy.
