Typically all or nothing for me.

I could never own a sequel without owning the original, but there are certainly cases where I would own the original without owning all its sequels.

I usually try to complete the series as long as I like the other movies. If there is a crappy sequel that I don't like I'll just keep the original movie.

Also, I just thought of another case where I'll likely wind up with only part of a film collection. At some point, I will likely buy the Skynet Edition of "T2", and I already have "Salvation", but the others will almost certainly remain off my shelf.

angels&Demons and caspian were both $10 each title. sequels used seem cheaper than original used.

both COR & DVC are both $15-20+

I have plenty where I have the prequel only on DVD and the sequel on BD.

The only sequel I own on any format without having the first is M:I-2

Usually it's an all or nothing thing for me but there are Blu-rays I own for which I don't own their sequels. If the sequel was awful I'm not going to buy it. With that said I don't have any sequels without their originals in my collection.

Yeah, I pretty much have to have all the movies as somethings just feels incomplete with out them. I just purchased X-Men 1 and 2 and now will be on the look out for the third one even tho I didnt really care for it that much.

If The Dark Knight is considered a sequel then yes I am guilty as charged. Otherwise I don't as sequels, 99.99% of the time, pale in comparison to the origiinal and are usually made just for the cash.

Never. (well, except batman begins so far)
If I have a movie, I have them all. (all the franchise)
It feels more right that way.

Batman returns

I found Batman (1989) and Batman begins to be too serious for my tastes. Returns is the perfect mix of being light hearted and being serious. I only have the Dark Knight because it came with a bundle.

So far I own The Dark Knight but not Batman Begins and T2 but not the Terminator. I don't have Batman Begins because it's just not a priority for me, and I'm holding out for that Lowry restored release of the Terminator. As far as films in a series, I feel compelled to own them all but I only buy the ones I like, which is usually only the first 1 or 2. It also helps that the latter films in a series are usually the worst so that I don't have only parts 1 and 3 of something because having them out of order would make me want to fill the gap. And for box sets if there's incentive or I at least like the latter films then I'll spring for them all like I did with the Spider-Man trilogy. I love 1 and 2, and I don't hate 3 so they all went into my collection.

If you've got a high-def sound system, you're missing out. The 5.1 DTS HD-MA track on the 28 Days Later blu-ray isn't perfect, but it sounds SO much better than the DVD.
