As far as I'm concerned, they can wait until I'm dead. I'd hate for this to come out and steal a screen at my local theatre that could be used for something better... like a Uwe Boll film!

Please note that my reference to a Uwe Boll film is not one of approval and appreciation for his work. The reference to a Uwe Boll film is one to reinforce my dislike for the anti-film, headache-inducing, lack of storytelling, poor cinematography experience that is Cloverfield.

I really didn't like the film at all at first, but then I watched it again and took it for what it was: A big loud monster film. The acting wasn't great, God knows there was zero logic
[Show spoiler]The anger I felt at the end when "OH NOEZ, THE BIG ASS MONSTER DESTROYING NEW YORK JUST SNUCK UP BEHIND ME!!!!
but overall it is fun.

Ouch!

Never saw Cloverfield, and most likely never will.

I just saw the first one two days ago. It's got some great LFE, but I literally started feeling nauseous from the camera work. I ended up trading it in, and getting Inglourious Basterds.

Thanks for the contribution.

Back on topic... I for one loved the first one and would definitely welcome a new one, given that they take their time, rather than "rush" a plotline.

Is this a positivism-dictatorship? Because I too felt Cloverfield was way overrated.Hated the cinematography, and the acting was not very convincing. Not saying it's wrong to like the movie, but stating an opinion that the movie wasn't good shouldn't be against etiquette here.

I liked it too. It’s on cable (showcase?) every now and then. I suggest watching it for a bit, then if you like it, stop it and rent/buy the Blu Ray.
It may be hard to stop watching once you start though. Unless, of course, you turn out to be one of the haters.

Well, I took the same approach and have seen it 3 times. Once in theatre. Twice on Blu-ray. And, the more I watched it, the more I saw the inferiority of it.

I wasn't using his opinion as relevance to why I most likely will never watch it. I just doubt I'll take the time to see it. Too busy these days.

It is an idiotic film. But I'm always rooting for them to die even though I know the outcome. Plus, it's reference worthy sound...

Don't listen to him, just go ahead and rent it and give it watch. Awesome movie, and should never ever be compared to a damn Uwe Boll film.
