I don't understand this being a 2 BD set, with one disc the 3-D version and the other the 2-D. I thought that all 3-D blu's are backwards compatible with any BD player. I see the same is happening with "Christmas Carol" and that will have a seprate version in 2-D.

They are compatible, but the studios love releasing two and three disc sets.

I read somewhere that the quality of the 2d presentation from a 3d disk is reduced, you see edging around objects etc that were designed for 3d. Watching a true 2d disk vs a 3d disk in 2d is supposed to be noticable.

I guess that kinds answers my hanging question in my head about watching 3D blu-ray discs being played back in 2D unless someone can correct me. I'm gonna do my research on that now ... and if that's the case, I'm glad there's a 2D disc with it.

Not true. Edging around objects in 3D is caused by a lack of proper aliegnment between the two eye streams. Displaying only one of the streams will not have edgement. 2D extraed Blu-Rays look great. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs bested the HD broadcast and in my opinon looked like a fantastic 2D Blu-Ray even when extracted from a 3D version

I'm so desperate to see the images that accompany the song, When Christmas Comes To Town in 3D since that has to be the highlight of the movie(song-wise, that is). ![]() I've seen two versions of this film; in 2D on TV and in a field sequential 3D version on a DVD-r. Both impressed but the thing I long for most of all is an "official" 3D blu ray. Any words on that happening, guys? John. |

I want to buy this for the 2-D verison with the lossless audio as I have no interest in buying a 3-D TV or player. I have a question hopefully someone can help me with because I'm a little confused. Will I be able to play the 2-D version on a regular blu-ray player or will it only play on a 3-D player? I'm also wondering if the 2-D version that's thrown in will be just the old blu-ray disc with the lossy audio? As long as the 2-D can play on a standard player and has lossless audio I'll be buying it. But I want to make sure first. Any help please?
