What you said makes no sense.
So if after their test stores, BB decided to go with just HD DVD, you would be okay with the correct? Or if BB online starts to rent to HD DVD then BR, you would be okay with BB going with just HD DVD in their stores, correct?

And just because there is more of a demand for BR, it doesn't mean there is not a demand for HD DVD and this decision will not effect many consumers.

BB should provide both formats, esp this early in the game.

Any store that only sells one or the other sucks in my opinion.

Default Rent

Foot Soldiers of the Blu Army: Blockbuster does in fact rent BD discs. You may need to call around and find the one in your area that is Blu. If you still have problems you can rent On-Line.

No matter what previous problems have been with Blockbuster, We must start renting now. Its cost effective to buying every release.

Now, if you must never step into a BlockBuster store for whatever silly reason, you can also show support at Netflix. Netflix is claiming it 50/50 at their website between the 2 formats.

You could also do both!!! I rented 3 today from blockbuster for the long weekend. Its cool people ask you about Blu-Ray and I can try and sell them on the World of Blu!! Its fun

Lets hit the rental segment, Blockbuster went EXCLUSIVE!!!

BB only rents HD movies in BLU-RAY. The rest of what you said is pointless!

If HD had rented better than BD, then yes, Blockbuster supporting them would be fine. It would suck for me since I'd have to buy an HD player, but it would make business sense. But that's not the case. It's already been well over a year. We have enough statistics to see that BluRay is what people want.

And you don't seem to know much about the retail business if you think companies should carry more formats. Do you know how much of a waste that would be? Not only would your customers be confused every time they came in your store, but you'd probably go out of business.

I don't know who you are and I'm sorry for your bad experience, but if you want Blu Ray to succeed rent from Blockbuster, they are only supporting Blu Ray on a store level. I know because i'm one of their managers.

Did they make you pay late fees or something? Saying they are anti consumer.....if anything Corporate Blockbuster cares about customers too much. They removed Late Fees (the single biggest flop of a business decision I've ever seen.....to give you an idea that was about 20% of their revenue that just went poof) and even offer insane rental cards where they actually LOSE money on the deal (assuming you take advantage).

Blockbuster actually pays their customers to do surprise visits and grade that store. They take customer service serious. I really don't understand how you can say they are anti consumer. This is so funny, you think Netflix and Blockbuster are any different? They are about making money.....who would have thought.

We have two stores in my area that rent blu-disk, non of them are hd-dvd or have any plans to do so. As far as selection it is lame at best, they only keep 1 copy per title so all the good ones are out pretty much 99.9% of the time since rentals last a week, and most titles are very old and they have no working plan as to when new releases will come in to the store. Like i said in other post i dont understand this half assed attempt at stocking blu disk's, either #### or get off the pot blockbuster.

It's easy to say "just buy more" however the demand is just not there yet. I help run some of the biggest blockbuster stores in the country and when you are dealing with budgets.....the revenue from highdef is less than 1% in those stores. This is putting 3 copies per title on new releases.

I know customers love to say, hey just buy it because I'll rent it. That's great however I've noticed most stores have only a handful of people that rent Blu-Ray movies (I help run over 60 Blockbuster stores). When you are dealing with thousands of stores (as Corporate does) bringing in multiple copies for something that doesn't rent well is a waist of money. Now if they were to make rev share deals with stuidos, you will see more copies. Right now however, it's strickly paying full price for something that you are likely not going to even break even (at least for a month or two).

Basically financially it doesn't make sense to invest more than what they are doing right now. Wait until after the 4th qtr.....if it's as big as it's supposed to be things will change next year.

Well then it's going to force me into looking at services such as netflix which seem to have a catalog of over 40 titles. I would rather use a store and hold it in my hand first but really in the last month they got one new copy of fantastic 4 and that's it, and of course it is out all the time. Right now saying blockbuster supports blu-disk is wrong, it's more like testing blu-disk.

BB has changed a lot over the last few years, but that is only because of companies like Netflix. They didn't do away with late fees because they wanted to help the customers, they did it because they were losing a lot of business and because of the class action lawsuits. Are their promotions are a desperate attempt to get some of their past customers back.

When BB came about, they seemed to purchase or buy out every movie rental place in town so they could be the only one. How many people here have seen two BBs across the street from each other? They bought out the competition, which is always bad for the consumer. They were very slow in adopting DVD since they didn't make as much money on it as VHS. Then they tried to get the rental window established for DVD, but luckly the studios told them to stick it. Then the lack of selection, large late fees, the high prices on their new DVDs, etc.

While Netflix is far from perfect, they do provide a good service at a good price.

It's $5 for a one week rental, but if you're a Blockbuster Online member, you can bring movies they mail you to the store and get movies for free. That's the only reason I'll stick with BB over Netflix.

Thanks for contacting BLOCKBUSTER Online Customer Care.

The Company will continue to offer both Blu-ray and HD DVD titles through its online rental service, www.blockbuster.com , and will continue to offer both formats at its initial 250 stores that currently carry both high-definition formats. The stores will focus mainly on Blu-ray, but some select stores will carry both.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to provide specific stores that will or will not carry Blu-Ray DVD.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance. Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Sorry, I was unable to obtain a directory of BD stores at this time.

Just rented 2 more this evening.... Glad to see the blu-ray area has doubled in size since last week ! Disapointed to see that despite the larger setup they have less titles then the HD DVD section. Overall more movie copies of blu to rent but HD DVD had more choices......

Another good point was Blu had more rented out when I was there then HD DVD did !

Keep up the support guys..... COME ON !

Ive rented 4 in the last 2 weeks !

Since I rejoined Blockbuster around the middle of July, I've rented approximately 70 Blu-rays both online and in-store. As you may have guessed, I haven't worked in about 2 months. Yes, it's been a nice long Blu vacation for me.

The Blu-ray store I shop at has a huge Beautiful display. I will take a picture next time i'm there and post it on this thread. They only rent BD!!!

Your store needs to get the hddvd discs the hell out of there. Glad to hear BD is outselling hddvd at your store.

I prefer Blockbuster, rather than Netflix.

We may have to start hitting Netflix at some point. Just to beat the hddvd miscreants.
