This will likely be a preorder for me. It's one of Spielberg's best dramas, for starters. A wonderul cast, for another. And a terrific, touching story. I've been wanting it in my collection for quite some time.

I hope Warner also releases another of Spielberg's historical drama on Blu in the not too distant future: Empire of the Sun. I very much like that film too.

Absolutely love this film. Along with "Empire Of The Sun", these two films are IMO his best achievements.

I'm a white man and consider it one of my fave movies of all time. It's a beautiful uplifting story and Whoopi Goldberg should've won an Oscar (and a lot of people believe her win for Ghost was a consolation prize for losing for Color Purple). I'm in it for day one. I hope this means we're going to start getting more Spielberg movies in the next year or two, we all know Jaws, E.T. and the Indiana Jones trilogy is well overdue.

cannot believe I'm mentioning something on Oprah (but hey, she was in this movie so it's okay lol), but she did mention the BD on her show today and they showed a brief clip of the disc artwork, which replicates the Blu-Ray cover.

I honestly wish Warner would go back to the original poster-art/original DVD release with the silhouette of Celie in a rocking chair instead of the drawing.

This film should look amazing on Blu'. Should have won best picture that year. Out of Africa was less than half the movie 'Purple was and still is.

Agreed. It seems to be common knowledge that Whoopi's win for Ghost (and don't get me wrong, she was good in that) was seen by many as the industry giving her a consolation prize for losing for The Color Purple. I think the movie was probably just a little too controversial when it first came out and while he's now revered as one of the great directors, there was a lot of resentment for Spielberg in the industry back then because he was so successful. I think time is the true test and The Color Purple is now generally considered a better movie than Out Of Africa.
