I can understand older movies being encoded in lossy Dolby Digital, but movies from the 2000s like Italian Job and Training Day? These movies could of easily been re-mastered in lossless audio. Training Day is one of my favorite action movies and I was very dissapointed when I found out is was a Dolby digital track only. Regardless I bought the BD anyways.

The majority of titles in the list, are that of WB and Paramount early title releases. I think it just came down to laziness. And wanting to get these specific titles into the market as fast as possible. I hope they one day release them with a lossless soundtrack, as some of the titles are great action flicks, that deserve the treatment.

They may technically be considered lossy, but the bitrates are just as high if not moreso than some lossless tracks and sound excellent. My Queen: Rock Montreal is DTS-HD HR 96/24 and it kills many lossless tracks.

High Resolution has a Fixed/Constant bit-rate (CBR) of up to 6Mbps. It is like you said "classed" as a lossy sound technology, but in all cases beats any other lossy track. And depending on the sample frequency and bit-depth, could rival a lossless track. It maybe extremely difficult to defer between the two.

This may be a little off topic, but in your typical Harkins, AMC, etc theaters (not IMAX) is the audio lossy or lossless? Would one be able to tell at the theater if the audio is lossy or lossless by the way it sounds? Or is that why everybody is concerned about lossless because the theaters have it?
