Karate Kid will probably be #1 for the week, but with the popularity of BATB (along with the $10 off coupon), it has a chance.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be the best seller. Maybe KARATE KID, but I'm going with BEAST.

This week will be interesting. I think Karate Kid will be the top seller, however in ways I hope I am wrong. It is usually pretty difficult for a catalog title to overcome a new release, but this week is interesting that way, because there are two catalog titles being released that I think are going to sell extremely well: Beauty and the Beat, and The Last of the Mohicans.

I really hope the catalog titles outsell the new releases so they will continue to release more and more catalog titles.

I think Beauty and the Beast will top the list because of the family factor and now that so many more people have blu-ray players & PS3's in their home, they will want to get the best possible version for PQ & AQ and it is one of those movies that's a collectors type item too.

parents and children alike will want to pick up this movie. most of them loved it in the theaters and on VHS & DVD and they will pick up the Blu-Ray version. Hell, I'm 48 and you better believe that I'm gonna pick it up and my youngest will love seeing it too! Oh yeah, my youngest is 20! and come on, it's Disney for Pete's sake!

so far this year, for movies, this is going to be the single most expensive week as there are more than 8 good titles that are being released tomorrow!

They tried to make it it's own thing while still copying the structure of the original's storyline almost exactly. Why not make an original movie instead of riding on the back of the 1984 Karate Kid?

On top of that, not even Jackie Chan could replace the great Mr. Miyagi who, in my opinion, is the best thing about the original films.

It was just an extreme case of "been there, done that", which in effect made it a boring movie to watch, especially since I didn't care for the character portrayals in this one nearly as much as in the original.
You have a point to a degree, but would you rather this kind of remake that increases the scale of the film by 200%, or a shitty one that is just a carbon copy...don't answer. You already made it clear.

I think Beauty and the Beast will dominate as it is a Disney Classic, which is never to be underestimated!

I am picking it up along with the Charlie Brown Holiday Collection this week.

while i don't intend to jump on this movie in particular, I do agree with you in principal. I notice not just in the movie industry, but in the music industry that too much of what we get to see and here are remakes of classics. it often makes me wonder are there no more original ideas left or are the studio's not willing to take the chance on financing them so many of them don't come to term? that's one reason why i keep my eyes on the indi films because most all of them are original and fresh and new. music wise, i like a lot of the older stuff cause again, it was fresh and new. that's not a knock (not a total one anyway) at new movies and music because sometimes (it's getting more and more rare mind you) there are good originals but they are far and few in between.

come on industry, give us some new, different and most of all, original stuff, that's what we want!

i may get the Karate Kid because it did receive a perfect 5 in both PQ & AQ and i am one who can watch a crap movie (and i'm not saying it is cause i haven't seen it yet) if the picture and especially the audio is good and according to the reviewer here (who also gave the movie itself a 4.5) at the site he loved the blu ray movie release. If I don't buy it, i will at the very least rent it cause it is a 5/5 in the two most important catagories to me.

but nobody is gonna beat "Pat" as Mr. Miyagi, and i mean, nobody!

Hm. I think that Beauty and the Beast and The Karate Kid will be in a tie for the top sellers tommorow. Which one will take the number one spot is a good question? I am rooting for Beauty and the Beast, though. Since I am a fan of Disney's animated films and The Karate Kid was a bore for me.

As for what I'll be picking up tomorrow:

-- The Last of The Mohicans
-- Beauty and The Beast

Default Wow, the Voting

Beauty and the Beast is for the fact the all time favorite Disney Classics.

Im still going to get it and the rest of the films like the Exorcist, The Karate Kid, and A Nightmare On Elm Street. even tho the movie is bad alittle or nothing like the original Kruger, still fun to watch.

From the list I will be buying Beauty and the beast, A nightmare on elm street, and the exorcist. not listed I will be getting Year without a Santa Claus. I will be getting Splice and Karate Kid next week when I head up to Bullmoose Music in Salem NH where I will have lots of store credit from doing a huge cleaning of my collection.

Karate Kid will top them all. new releases seem to be the most obvious choice but Beauty and the Beast should do really well also. Havent placed my orders for either of them.
