Peoples, it looks like Big W will have the deal to get!

As of this Thursday Big W will have the Ultimate Edition with the film cell and making of Avatar Booklet for $48 (it is not a tin, but looks to be the blue perspex box which Target will also be selling) while the regular 3-disc edition will be a super cheap $26.86. You can't argue with that!

Keep eye out on Kmart though also. Although their prices are generally higher, their next catalogue lists the DVD version at $22 as opposed to Big W's $22.86. It's slightly less, so the Blu-ray may have competitive pricing at Kmart also.

I bought the Avatar 3 disc collectors edition from jb hi fi yesterday for $40. I saw big w's $26.86 price advertised in their catalogue which starts Thursday this morning so this afternoon I decided to take my receipt along with the big w catalogue back to the jb hi fi store where I bought it from and they were happy to match big w's price and refund me back the difference even though big w's sale doesn't start until Thursday.

Can anyone take any photos of this set;

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Avatar-Blu-ray/17000/

I've seen it in store, but its behind a glass shelf and sealed, so I can't open it up to check it out. Is it just a box with the standard Collectors edition slipcovers, or is it a digipack ?

Andy posted pics in the JB Exclusive thread a while back: Link

It's the same content as the JB tin, just in a cardboard box instead.

Australia Mind blowing

What a movie, the extended bits definitely added to the film in my opinion. The picture and sound were mind blowing!!! And under 30 bucks - I would definitely use this as a reference disk...

So glad I held out for this release. Three versions of the movie and so many extras. I would of been kicking myself if I had picked up the original release.

So i wasn't exactly over-impressed with Avatar when it came out.. hell I thought it was pretty basic really.. big name director, huge budget but no substance.

But! over repeated viewings, i'm really enjoying it more and more lol. Just chucked in an order for the 3D version in fact.

I've found myself putting it on when i'm bored and have 3 hours spare time after work.. cranking up the home theater and turning off the lights. You have to be in the right mood to watch it though, you can't be sleepy or even a wee bit angry otherwise it gets turned off quite quickly.

Anyone else here who didn't like it originally, but have grown to like it?

I felt exactly the same as you. Saw it at the movies and was disappointed. Now I like to watch it every now and again and I'm a bit of a fan. The 3d blu-ray is fantastic.

Nope. I still think it is pretty mediocre no matter how many times I have to sit through it.

The only thing the film with extended scenes adds is confirmation of what a douche of an actor Worthington is. I still like the movie though. The ending is great. And it's always a satisfaction knowing someone like Andrew Bolt is squirming in his chair watching it.
