I think at the end of the day it comes down to taking less money for the ease of taking all the games into one place and getting rid of them. It's kind of like walking into a gas station on a long trip, jonesing for some beef jerky, and finding out it's $12.00 a bag when at home at a normal grocery store it's like $4 a bag. You get annoyed but end up making the transaction anyway but as you walk out you're thinking, "F@ck you!"

Up here in Canada the splinter cell was a Most wanted for the month of October at 30$ trade in value :-)
Power Trade was 50% more credit when put towards certain games. Future Shop had a one day sale of 9.99 for Splinter Cell and 19.99$ for GOW3. blockbuster is still offering 30$ trade in value for Splinter Cell Conviction ![]() |

Gamestops in my country are pretty fair.. They usually have good sales and you can almost always get some good deals!
I got Battlefield Bad Company 2 on release date for $0.20 by trading in Call of Duty 3 and Alone in the Dark: Inferno... I also got Fifa World Cup South Africa on release date for $0.20 by trading in Modern Warfare and Bad Company.. I had the sequels for both those games so didn't miss them.. |

It's gamestop's trade-in values that have led me to avoid even buying a game for more than $20 unless except on rare occasions (Reach, Black Ops - for the first real 3D experience). If I know the return is going to be horrible and I end up liking the game, I'm much more likely to just keep it for when I want to play it again and be content with having a minimal investment in it, than trade it in - anywhere really - and get so much less than I paid for it.
I've traded to Amazon once and was happy with what I got, but I've been learning my lesson, and more and more when I go through my games I see they're worth so little I just keep them in my collection. |
