The video for the DVD was decent (even though I hear the quality for the Blu-Ray out in the UK is awful).

The sound was awful on the disc. I was shocked to see that it was THX Certified...when she was being raped, the screaming was LOUD. When the men were chasing her in the forest, their sounds were LOUD. However, normal dialogue was VERY soft. Got extremely irritating. I rarely ever, ever have to even touch my remote during a movie to turn it up or down. During this, I was picking up the remote extremely often to turn the volume up or down.

No. Anchor Bay and Elite Entertainment are to different company's. This will be the first time the original ISOYG has been released by Anchor Bay. I'm pretty sure Elite is not around anymore.

I'm pretty sure the loud screaming was on purpose. However I have seen a few different versions of this movie and the sound has always been bad so I wouldn't expect much on that front. I'd like to see some screencaps from this "supposedly awful" UK version if someone has a link post it. I would imagine that Anchor Bay has newer materials to use for their transfer. None of their catalog titles have looked bad although there hasn't been that many of them. Basically just Evil Dead, the Dead films (Dawn and Day) and Halloween and those looked good for what they were. Just for anyone who is curious the Millennium Edition has:

We can safely say that the galleries are probably not gonna be on the blu, hopefully commentaries and trailers. Maybe we will get some kind of featurette with Camille Keaton from a European Release or something. That would be cool. She has been doing conventions and interviews more recently because of the cult status of the film.

I just bought/watched the UK Import for this film. It was pretty darn wicked!

I thought the PQ looked alright; a little on the soft side, but certainly clean and mostly-sharp. AQ was dissapointing (Dolby Digital only, no HD, pretty low noisy dialogue). But it is a nice package with a bunch of extras. Unfortunately, this edition is Region-B locked.

Can't tell you how the US release will be, but I am mostly pleased with this UK edition.

Unless Blu-Ray.com has listed the running time wrong, it looks like the US will be a cut version, as well.
Both this and the UK version are listed as 100 minutes and on IMDb, it lists this film as 101 minutes (I'm guessing the uncut and uncensored version). What gives? Why release the DVD as uncut and uncensored and the Blu-Ray as cut and censored?
