Unfortunately for Backdraft if this is indeed just the theatrical version and not the extended cut I will be passing on this release until the extended is released as it really does tie up all the loose ends as well as showing what the firefighters do for there community outside of working.

I doubt they'll release it anytime soon

Amen. Both the 1998 DVD and the 2006 25th Anniversary, as well as IMDB show 137 min. I too doubt Opie will ever incorporate the 43 minutes into the film itself.

There was a extended edition released on DVD cant remember which version it was tho

Am I even in the Backdraft thread. But on a side note I am pumped for this to come out. I have had it on preorder for awhile. I did the $8 off deal on Amazon so I get a great movie for a great price.

There was never an extended version released on DVD. The initial airing on NBC was extended and the only place to find scenes put back into the film. I still have it on VHS. It started out with the original trailer (which ROCKED and used the music from Glory) and included some of the scenes in the "deleted scenes" feature of the dvd and blu.

Wow, only out six months and they already have another version coming out now? Granted, it's the same thing, just with the dvd and digital copy. Kind of cheap to release this now when everyone that was waiting for it already got the basic version though.

I'm hoping the combo version will have a slipcover. Uni is releasing alot of combo packs next week. I think it's 20 different titles.

Looks like Backdraft will be part of "Best Of Decade" series and will probably have a new slipcover.
