Tony Jaa is pretty good. I'm very impressed by his martial art ability as shown in his films. However, I don't think he'll be as famous as Bruce Lee, Jet Li or Jackie Chan unless he stars in an international movie.

Great movie, worst PQ ever. Marginal sound quality and just a few extras. Buy with caution...

Define "worst".

Can we expect a special edition in the future to come? And what about the other international releases?

By the way, what's the deal with the ONG BAK 1 Blu-Ray? I've heard the movie cannot look better than this, given its ridiculous budget and cheap film stock. I've read it is a huge step above the DVD anyway.

Now that TONY JAA - the only true successor to Bruce Lee - has turned into a monk and retired, we can kiss the martial arts cinema goodbye.
So hes retired for sure now?

I know that Ong Bak, Ong Bak 2, Ong Bak 3, and The Protector are out on Blu-ray in Germany. The German title for The Protector is Revenge of the Warrior which means the Germans count that as a sequel to Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior. They are all supposedly Region B locked too.

Thai custom allows a person to become a monk for a short period of time. It is for cleansing and refreshing the mind and soul.

I, myself, actually participated in this practice last year. You do not have to commit your entire lifetime, just enough time to clear yourself.

I am trying to think of the Western religions that also offer something similar. I'd say it's like a baptism without the water and the process is obviously much longer.

I feel JAA will come back for good, better than ever, stronger than ever, purified. He will deliver the very best!

Worst as far as I know. PQ is incredibly soft, hardly any detail, and contrast levels are terrible (especially in the indoor scenes). I don't know if you've seen reviews for "Ichi the Killer" or "The Killer," but "Ong Bak's" quality is a grade worse than those, and is thus the worst PQ I've seen so far.

I'm not holding my breath for a SE release, and I don't know anything about import versions. Maybe somebody else knows...

Oh God.
Is it true there's some pixelation and pixies all over the place too?
