That describes the U.S. BD3D as well. I own it. There is only one disc. At the title screen you are asked if you want to play it in 2D or 3D.

I just had watched an interview of Riley Steele at an AVN event on youtube. She was asked what was her favorite scene in 2009?

I have watched 3/4 of Piranha 3D and I enjoyed the 3D effects in Resident Evil Afterlife 3D much more. It is difficult to understand how the same reviewer at Blu-ray.com rated the PQ for Piranha 4/5 and RE AL 3/5.

Particularly considering Piranha is a 2D to 3D conversion and RE AL is native 3D using Fusion and Phantom camera systems.

At least they are both primarily live action films. I don't think you can make a valid comparison between live action and animated/CG releases, and that includes Avatar. http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article...animated-oscar

The reviewers here are fairly mediocre for the most part and I wouldn't pay to much head to them (some are also fantastic but overall very meh).

Just got my Canadian copie of Piranha 3D from Amazon.ca. Was really a good price. 20$ for it I really did love the movie in theater. Yes it's was filmed in 2D but the movie was totally design for 3D and converted right after filming. And the results is very interesting.

I didnt watch my copy yet, since i'm at work.... but something very interesting.... Because the US version of the 3D bluray seems to have the commentary tracks and the Making-of (10 featurettes) who's like more than 2h... but no deleted scenes or nothing....

So on the back of my bluray edition (Canadian), i can read:
  • Commentary with ... (just like all the other edition)
  • Deleted scenes
  • 1h making of Piranha Documentary
  • Behind-the scene footage
  • 2D version of the movie
So now I am very curious abotu what's on it really and if something missing from the 10 featurettes that the US release have....

So we all know what i'll do tonight and will keep everyone posted on what's on the disc

I saw this in theaters and loved it...even liked the 3D. Wasn't great but wasn't bad. The 3D BD is awful. How anyone can rate RE:3D bad and then rate this good us beyond me. It is migraine inducing, eyes crossing, and cardboard cut out 3D. Colors are nice, and detail is great but the 3D is painful. No 3D movie at home or in theaters has given me such a headache. After 15 minutes I changed to 2D. Big disappointment.

Yep, it was carboard cutout at the cinemas as well, maybe t cinemas you where so caught up with the film you didn't notice. Worst 3d quality on blu-ray 3d at the moment.

I have the feeling that all 3D movies are good or bad depending on so many factors.... and alot of them seems to not depend on the disc itself.... but on:
  • the equipement you have (which tv or blu-ray player.... it seems the PS3 and a stand-alone player is not the same for 3D)
  • how your equipement is pluged (did you use HDMI or not, is your cable pluged right in the TV or in a receiver first etc)
  • your own perception as well... We all see things differently too
  • what are your expectations for 3D

We all want and expect different things with 3D.
Some will want depth and 3-dimensional sceneries like Avatar.... but some will want some cheesy "In your face" effects...

It's so funny.. because when a movie is done in 3D for showing a lot of "In your face" moments, some people will complain about not enough depth or etc.... and if it's opposite, other will complain too.

And for all those reasons, i guess it's why some movies will get alot of different scores for Vidéo quality (especially in 3D).

And all of this depend on the type of movie as well.
Avatar is a serious movie... and it's why, you don't get any "In your face moment" compare to My Bloody Valentine or Piranha who's clearly not taking themself serioulsy.

So for Piranha versus Resident Evil....
I thought Piranha was a great transfert. Amazing color (even in 3D), with some cheesy 3D effects who's part of the rollercoaster ride of fun.... compare to RE who's taking itself way too seriously and i thought some scenes were more impressive than Piranha but other scenes were barely in 3D (and i am not talking about all the director choices with all the slowmotion who's kiiling sometime the 3D.

So it's all questions of perceptions, and of course on what equipement you're using....

But of course, we're all on the same page.... Clash of the Titans was just awful

@Blu Ray 3D President

So I did watch the Piranha 3D (the Canadian Edition)....
So i can confirm the packaging is wrong and not the right info on it....
It's EXCALTY the same edition that you can see in the US. Just commentatry and the huge documentary. No Deleted scenes.... and of course, with many trailers from Alliance Movies... like SCREAM 4.

So for 19.99$ on Amazon.ca, it's a great deal

Finally watched my copy.

Gratuitous violence and nudity aplenty. 3D was alright. Had some big names in it.

This was such a horrible movie though..

I'm almost ashamed I enjoyed it LOL...

+1 except I'm not ashamed . Will watch again and be on lookout this time for the Yellw Mustang and girl flash. I think the girl who flashed was the same that got cut off by the swinging blade.

I just finished to watch also the 2h long documentary... Wow... there's a lot of info on it and it's interesting to see the part about the 3D.

So Piranha 3D is the perfect roller coaster ride... it doesn't take it self seriously And the 3D is just fine, just how they wanted it... part of the fun ride... so yes plenty of 3D gimmick... but it's part of the fun....

I did not find the yellow Mustang scene on my copy. It's on the trailers and in "Making of". Anyone has different experience? Another scene missing that is on trailers is when piranhas are close to the face of Jessica Zohr.

The scene of the end of the trailer when Piranhas are close to the face of Jessica is not in the movie.... it was only for the trailer.

Someone described the yellow Mustang scene as being one of the deleted scenes on the 2D Blu-ray.

Thanks for the feedbacks guys. Bummer that they show stuff on theater or worse trailer but delete them on discs. I thought it would be other way around where scenes may be added to the disc that were not shown in theaters.

So i guess we're back to square one... Just like the RE reviews...
Highdefdigest just release the Piranha 3D review:
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/4255/piranha3d.html

And Just like RE:A, it seems so many people seems to experience different things.

So i just feel like i said before, the 3D experience vary from users and also depend on so many factors (other than the disk itself).
