Now don't get me wrong I am very happy for y'all who love this film, but I caught it on MGM TV a few years back and I just could not get into it. I think Heston was more well suited for the epics and such as I felt he was too wooden. Sadly it was Edward G. Robinson's last role. What a great actor!

Assuming decent transfers it looks like Warner might have a fairly cool catalog trend brewing.
Excalibur also has a release price of $13.99 and that's pretty reasonable. Throw in The Maltese Falcon and Treasure of the Sierra Madres at around $17-$18 at release (and between $15-$19 since) and I like the looks of things. If studios can make money at these price points we could be in for a very cool catalog ride soon. |

im totaly buying. theres nothing i like more than upgrading a good old movie. i think they make the better blurays.and keep the grain intact
![]() i wouldnt say that the movie is better than planet of the apes, but i will not say its not as good either. i think they are both classics for their own reasons. |

From any buzz I have read on the internet, the BD release will be identical to the DVD with regards to supplemental material. That's disappointing. I agree with others that the video will likely be an upgrade, but will it justify the repurchase for the many fans that own this on other formats? I doubt it. Even though I owned this on DVD first, I prefer to watch this from my earlier laserdisc copy with its great cover art, comparable video quality, and a unique feature that was removed from the DVD (and from this Blu-ray?), an isolated music score option. I can't believe that this far on laserdisc still has more to offer sometimes.

Received a copy today and hope to check it out either tonight or tomorrow. I am using a 128" 2:35 screen so it will show any problems with the transfer ( if any ). I should watch King Of Kings beforehand as I hear it is a great transfer - it won't make viewing Soylent Green any easier but a generally gritty appearance is expected.
