oh, haha - I do remember this coming out. But, if I remember it correctly, this was another one of those blocky 3D remakes. I'd prefer the original game or a 2D remake.

omg I must have this!
I hope it's released on a UMD though.
Why wouldn't it be on a UMD? I can't imagine the size a game with revamped graphics would take up. Grandia (PS1) takes up nearly 1GB. You would have to delete the game after you beat it (or get a new memory card every time yours filled up.)

I definitely drooled all over that trailer, though. Thanks for the link! (I laugh at the comment about the two lesbians being affectionate toward the baby (as SQUEE's traditions are to make their men effeminate.))

Well, a game with the name FFIII was released on the DS, and I'm not dissing that game. I heard it was fairly fun, but it was at best "inspired by" Final Fantasy III. Someone mentioned that it was converted to 3D, which is fine I guess, but they pretty much reinvented the game; kept a rough semblance of the original story and characters, but essentially just created a new game based on the ideas of FFIII.

I'd love an actual release of FFIII to match the I and II releases.

I think the problem is that I and II didn't sell well here in the States at ALL. My local Best buy has them for something like $5 each, and they have a case full of them that didn't sell over the Christmas holiday.

I always that because of a couple things: 1 & 2 have already had multiple releases (PS1, GBA), and with those re-issues, it was both games in one SKU, usually for $20 or $30. With the PSP FF1 and 2, they were sold separately and initially cost $30 each.

Yes to everything you just said.

I understand that III just wasn't feasible for the Wonderswan back in the day, but I feel pretty good that a first time release of III on PSP would sell better than the fifth release of I.

Yes, since the vast majority of Americans haven't played the game legally (maybe a few rich, hardcore RPGers imported it), you'd have all of that fanbase that would purchase the game. Then there are the ignorant people that would think that III meant VI, and buy it for that reason. I really do think it would sell well. At least we're getting Tactics Ogre, though!

April 19th is the US release date - http://www.gamespot.com/psp/rpg/fina...ml?sid=6297126

It's the US date because it comes out March 24 in Japan.

Thanks for the info - so excited! Between this and the Tactics Ogre (the game that inspired Final Fantasy Tactics) remake, I am excited about breaking out my PSP again

I've been having too many problems with missing RPGs that I really want to play now. Mass Effect 2, White Knight Chronicles, Star Ocean IV, Resonance of Fate, and Valkyria Chronicles 2. I'm not sure if I'll get to play ANY of those because so many good things are coming out every month. There are probably others I can't think of off the top of my head, too. *sigh*. We'll see what happens when FFIV comes out for PSP....

I got the Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger PS1 bundle about a month ago and I have to say, IV was pretty amazing (haven't beat it yet). I might pick this up soon.

Is this PSP only or is available on the PSN for the PS3?

FFIV is my favorite game (I own every version of it), but I don't have a PSP

I don't think it's on PSN yet, but I could be wrong.

Just got it the game. Very excited to start playing it again! One of my all-time favorites

PSP only. My personal recommendation is to get the downloadable version, so that you'll be forward-compatible with NGP.

Sooo, what does everyone think? I've still got that time constraint problem but I *do* have a $10 RZ card to spend... It's either that or 3rd Birthday (which I could technically get for $10....

I'm loving it. Haven't played 3rd Birthday, but considering FFIV is one of the greatest games of all time, you can't go wrong with the updated version

Yeah, FFIV is one of my favorite games ever, and this version improves upon it without changing too much.

Which is funny, because PtoM gave it an ugly rating (like 5/10 or something) and they only complained about the larger characters not blending with the background. They made no comment about it giving them life-altering headaches, so I think they are just being whiny. This reviewer also called it one of the best FF games ever. I've always been a big fan of larger characters, and am looking forward to playing. I feel larger characters give you a better view of the work that an artist gruelled over. I'll probably pick it up on Monday on my way to softball (they are practically next to each other on the other side of town.)
